I need to be a life coach.
I have spent an inordinate amount of time in the last several years helping friends, acquaintances and strangers navigate their lives. A catch-up convo over coffee will begin innocently enough. Suddenly, we stumble onto the profound and are exploring Big Topics. Countless times in the last 6 months someone I'm with blurts out, "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to get this deep...I really did just want to grab coffee and catch up." Pretty sure that's my fault... I can't turn this off.
- A professional counselor's tool box is what I need. The self-teaching I've done thus far is wonderful but it's a poor substitute for organized learning and the 100-ish hours of hands-on practice I'll get at Interchange Counseling Institute.
- This is the path I'm supposed to follow. I've had goofy, Sheri-specific signs. Read more about that on a recent blog post: Choosing the Mighty Life.
- We are living in a fear-based culture and I've had epiphany after epiphany as I unlearn this social conditioning. I want to help others free themselves to live authentic, satisfying lives filled with love and peace.
- This won't be easy. Classes are 10 hours a day, two days in a row, once a month, for about 10 months. Plus 5 hours on a plane each way. Plus a few hours of counseling practice each week and a giant stack of books. Not having to constantly worry about money, too, would be magical.
What I need & what you get.
Let's talk about the money and your benefits:
- Base tuition is $4950 and I currently owe them $4200. I will need to buy 8 of my 10 plane tickets between now and June. Whatever I can't fundraise will get charged on my war-weary credit cards a little at a time while I hold my breath.
- Rewards include the famous toffee I hand-make every December. And private cooking classes from a great chef. If there's something you want but don't see, holler. I'm happy to add a creative perk for you! (hint: I make concerts happen)
Other ways you can help.
Some people can't financially contribute, but that doesn't mean they can't help:
- Donate airline miles.
- Volunteer to keep Bailey the Bassett Hound.
- Share my campaign on your social network.
Thank you for taking time to read this! If nothing else, send me positive energy!
