Short Summary
Casa "Sfânta Maria" Carani is a Day Centre for Children with Disabilities. Currently we have 23 children and more on the waiting list.
The Centre was founded to help the children with disabilities and their families from Carani and the surrounding villages. The idea came to life when a nun from Germany came here and saw that there are many children with disabilities that spend their days closed in the house, without any connection to the outside world.
So the main purpose was socializing. Now, after 22 years socializing is only one of the many things we offer. The children are offered different therapies that help them.
What is special in this Centre is that we provide the transport as well. There is no Centre such as ours where these children could go, since most of them live at the countryside. Most of them come from families that struggle to make ends meet.
At the beginning there were 5 children. As the years passed by they grew up and became adults but they still needed a place to go and since they had no other option they have been coming to us ever since. This is why even though it is a Centre for children there are also some adults.

What We Need
We are faced with a very difficult problem this year: not enough funding. Due to this we cannot bring more than 10 children per day and we cannot hire more staff. We would need this sum of money in order to be able to hire 2 more specialized personal for the expenses needed to bring more than 10 children per day. The rest of the funding will come from our sponsors from Germany.
Maybe these children will not be capable to thank you enough for you donation but we believe that what they cannot do God will.
The Impact
If we do not manage to raise the needed sum of money we won't be able to hire more staff and things will continue as now, i.e. most of the children coming only one or two days a week, spending the rest of the days in a wheelchair, alone in their rooms, isolated from the world. While they are at home they are deprived from the therapies that would help them get better.
Risks & Challenges
One of the challenges we are going to face if we get the donation is finding people to hire. Since the Centre is in a village people are reluctant to come and work here since it is 20 km away from the city. But we hope to promote the Centre (even through this campaign) and show people how beautiful and fulfilling a job here can be.
