  • The volunteer fire station holds lobster bakes and dances in the summer to raise funds. On the day of the shooting, it was the staging site for families who waited and hoped against hope to hear of the fate of their beloved children. Here, Governor Danel Malloy is keeping up on developments as they unfolded. He was the one who read the terrible news to the familes. We were among the first responders.
  • This flagpole sits right in the middle of Main St. in Newtown. The huge flag is usually not flown in the winter. But, is now flying at half mast. An enormous collection of momentos: flowers, teddy bears, hand-written notes, etc, had to e removed to allow the traffic to pass.
  • Parents collecting their kids from the junior high when the lockdown ended at all the schools after the shooting.
  • This terrible tragedy happened right in the middle of our town and our lives.

Summary:

Help our Newtown kids turn this tragedy into resilient strength!

You can make a huge difference in the lives of the kids in Newtown in the months and years ahead when the cameras are gone, but the needs still exist.

All of our hearts have been broken by the senseless cruelty of the tragedy in our hometown of Newtown, CT.  We know that the greatest strengths come from the greatest adversities.  Based in Newtown, the Unity Project is working to help the kids there turn the grief of this horrific event into resilient strength and compassion.

 

That’s all there is to it.  Join us.  Together we can launch a youth movement that can build hope and confidence and resilient strength in these kids from Newtown.
