Hola.
Our names are Fionna and Stefania. We are currently undergraduate students at SUNY Cortland. We are both studying Psychology, and hope to pursue careers in the direction of Child Advocacy, Counseling and International Affairs. We are members of our Student Government Association on campus, and are involved with our community as well. We are focused young professionals, who in the last semester met through interning at an Aid to Victims of Violence program, working as crisis intervention advocates for victims of domestic and sexual violence . Now, we are embarking on a new project. We have been accepted into a short term program through an organization called Global Volunteer Networks, where we will be teaching English in a Peruvian orphanage. We are trying to fundraise part of the cost of our trip, since it costs quite a bit of money to house and feed the volunteer workers. The trip will cost about $1,200 per person. The money will also be going towards books and clothing for the children, that we plan on bringing with us. We are hoping that with steps like this, such as traveling to Peru to volunteer, we can one day achieve our dream of starting our own non-profit organization.
Our philosophy is UBUNTU.
Unbuntu is the belief that we are defined by the compassion and kindness we give to others.
We hope to carry that in our work, and in this journey to Peru, where we will be short term volunteers , providing education for children. We will be teachers. Please go like the Facebook page for more information on other fundraisers and traveling that we do.
