Our Story

We are YAM, the Young Adult Ministry of the Faith Community of Saint Sabina. Over three years ago we did not exist. We were merely just a group of individuals with a dream to make a difference in the world, in our communities, and in our own lives. Since our inception in the Faith Community of Saint Sabina, YAM has gathering over 20 committed adults between the ages of 18-35 to take part in charity, volunteer work, and service to others, while maintaing the belief that as Christians we are called to be light where ever darkness is in the world.

The Impact

Over the last three years, we've touched hearts, changed lives, mentored children, helped build a school in Sudan(located in the heart of Africa),  built homes in New Orleans following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, donated to Haiti through Yéle Relief, helped clean and transform the Auburn Gresham community, and on a number of occasions we've donated clothes, toiletries, and food to the homeless men and women living and sleeping under viaducts in Chicago. All of these efforts were due to our faith in Christ and the unity and love that YAM demonstrates amongst each other that makes are ministry effective. The reason why this retreat is so essential for our group, is because it will pour into the spiritual need and encouragement that our members need in order to be effective in our service and ministry outreach. Not attending will be detrimental to our members effectiveness and ability to work together in forth-coming efforts.

What We Need

We need funds to offset the cost of our transportation. We are looking to get a Mini Coach Bus for our 23 members attending the retreat on July 8th - 10th. We've received a quote of $3,730 which will be the total cost for us to travel from Chicago to the Coker Creek Retreat Center in Coker Creek, Tennessee. $2,730 of which we intend on receiving through this online campaign. The other $1,000 we will continue a grassroots effort at our church, and amongst our friends and family.

Again, this retreat is to further strengthen the moral fiber and unity amongst our members who volunteer year long in serving and helping others.

Other Ways You Can Help
