We have developed two body versions for HiBy R6. The aluminum alloy body version comes in 2 different colors (Black or Gray) for individual aesthetic appeal.
The stainless steel body uses the 316L stainless steel, the hardest grade of metal ever crafted into an electronic device chassis, providing class-leading aesthetics and durability simultaneously.
All the specs between two versions are the same except the body material.

Here you see a 1kHz square wave signal sampled at 192kHz, being put out by a music app on android. On usual Android devices this signal would be resampled and mixed into the fixed 48kHz system audio stream, producing a digital output to the DAC like the upper picture. Whereas on the R6, DTA architecture bypasses Android Sample Rate Conversion (SRC) for all apps, the signal would pass unaltered to the DAC like the lower picture.
So you see, in the past you could get a phone or player with a "quad DAC", or even a power-hungry 8-channel ES9018S meant for home audio. But today for the first time, you will be sending the original signal to the DAC, to be converted into the original sound reaching your ears. From almost all Android apps, not just the one or two hi-res compatible apps bundled with the player.

It core staff (shown here) have varied and overlapping backgrounds, from wireless communications (Fanoble) to audio electronics (Rick, Libin) to software engineering (Jet) and psychoacoustics (Joe). They hail from various parts of China as well as Australia and Hong Kong (Joe). All have at least a decade of relevant industry experience*. They take on the core tasks of the company from product research and conception (Fanoble, Rick) to design (Jet, Deng) to relations and service (Joe).
*Except Joe--he started working in audio in 2013 but has been an audiophile since birth ;)
HiBy Music possesses its own R&D capability over the whole audio reproduction chain, including key audio processing algorithms and ability to design its own FPGA-based audio processing chips.
With its base firmly planted in HiFi territory and at the same time boldly challenging established boundaries, HiBy Music’s mottos are “Make Music More Musical” and “Ease of Use is Not Optional.” From button-based entry-level DAPs to touch-operated Android DAPs, we will keep bringing out the best products both in terms of operational fluidity and audio quality.

1. What does the R6 run on?
The R6 is the first Chinese DAP to run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon--Snapdragon 425, comprising 4 ARM Cortex-A53 64 bit CPUs. Together with 3GB of RAM, they provide a firm platform for decoding hi-res audio such as DSD256 and DXD384, and full compatibility with music apps on the Android market.
2. How does the R6’s power LED change color according to status?
It changes color according to playback status / sample rate of music being played as follows:
Not playing: pale blue
32-48kHz: blue
88.2kHz-192kHz: green
352.8-384kHz: orange-yellow
DSD: white.
3. Can the R6 be connected to external USB DACs?
Yes.
4. Can the R6 be used AS an external USB DAC?
This function will be available with an upcoming firmware update.
5. Can be R6 be used with 3rd party apps?
Yes, the R6 will come loaded with Google Play.
6. Will the R6 support the high quality aptX bluetooth audio protocol?
The aptX audio protocol will be added to the R6 via firmware update (est. End of December 2017)
7. How to take screenshots on the R6?
Hold the power and volume down buttons at the same time.
8. What is the USB data transfer speed of the R6?
Data wise the USB port on the R6 is USB 2.0, with actual speed depending on the number of and size of files.
9. Does the R6 support quick charge? What kind of chargers are supported?
The R6 supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, and regular USB DC 5V/2.5A or Qualcomm Quick Charge 1/2/3 chargers are recommended.
10. How long does the R6 take to full charge?
Approximately 70 minutes to 70% and 140 minutes to 100%, when a QC3.0 charger is used.
11. How large is the R6’s battery? How long does it last in use?
The R6’s Li-poly battery is 4000mAh in capacity and the R6 is capable of continuous playback on battery through its SE 3.5mm headphone port for 12 hours or its balanced 2.5mm port for 7 hours (with screen off).
Without music playing, a R6 straight out of the factory can standby with power on for over a week; this changes significantly depending on what apps are installed afterwards.
12. How to access the R6’s system level sound options? What options are available?
From the Android pulldown shade, select Audio Options. Available options are:
Lowpass filter mode: select from three available filter modes for the antialiasing filter after the DAC.
Multifunction output: choose whether the 3.5mm LO/Coaxial digital port outputs an analog line signal or a digital S/PDIF signal.
Gain: choose between low and high gain for the headphone ports.
Channel balance: trim the left / right balance of the audio output to suit your earphones / ears.
Note that there may be many more app-level audio options available depending on the music app used. (The bundled HiBy Music app for example includes several)
13. How will firmware updates be supplied? What updates are expected?
Updates will be pushed over-the-air and files for manual download will be supplied as well. Both update modes can be managed via the bundled firmware updating app.
As mentioned above, updates to enable using the R6 as a DAC and bluetooth aptX capability are to be expected in updates. In addition, continual updates to the HiBy Music app are to be expected, and updates to Android 7.0 and/or 8.0 are possible.
14. Is it possible to change / improve the sound signature of the R6 via firmware updates?
Yes; hardware and software measures to improve the sound signature and/or open it up for modification are both being researched and expected to make it into the R6 firmware by the end of the year.
