The Project
“High Desert Hell” is a story that may seem familiar to mystery and horror audiences, but it has never been told quite like this. The film blends visceral visual storytelling with a captivating non-linear plot structure. The filmmakers drew inspiration from classic mystery stories such as And Then There Were None, and iconic genre films like “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”, to create a film different from its peers.
Its unique way of spinning a classic horror-mystery will surprise and frighten audiences. Because the film is set in the 1970’s, the film will incorporate aesthetic elements from that era of film. One of the aims of the filmmakers is to provide audiences with the experience of seeing a film that was actually shot in the 1970’s. The cinematic feel of the film will be influenced by other modern films with a vintage look, such as “House of the Devil”.
What We Need & What You Get
We are trying to raise just enough money to pay for the motel rooms and food. There are a lot of very talented people coming together to make this passion project come to life. We believe that our small horror film will have a big impact on horror fans everywhere. Our desire is to make sure that everyone donating their time and skill set can at least sleep comfortably and eat 3 meals a day during the filming process. By donating to this project, you will be able to go to the premier at AMC, own a limited edition screen-printed poster signed by the cast and crew, or even become an executive producer and be there on set with us.
Risks & Challenges
The film takes place in a remote location and that's exactly where we'll be filming: in a remote location, away from any populated area. Shooting away from civilization increases the difficulty of the production, but the house we found is just too perfect to pass up on. With that being the case, we need to have enough food and water for our cast and crew.
