High House India Collection wallpapers aren't about mass production and mass-market - they are about individuality and diversity, knowing the origins and inspiration for the product, and connecting with the designer-maker. Every High House wallpaper has a story behind it, and this is a chance to have part of that story in your home.
High House started at Staffordshire University around 5 years ago. It aims to give young designers the opportunity to engage with diverse historic sources and see their ideas brought to fruition as wallpaper. The most successful ideas are taken to print, using both traditional and digital production processes - but we are at a turning point.
To make the business sustainable we need to show there is a market for the products we offer, and develop a sound business proposition. This will enable us to develop the next design brief, for students and young designers to engage in another cultural heritage inspired opportunity (we know what this is – but it’s a secret at present).

The two India Collection designs were selected from a brief that was shared through collaboration with design schools in India and Staffordshire University. The winning designs by Mallika Gupta and Joanna Mathias were selected and adapted to industry production requirements.

As well as creating opportunities for designers, High House helps students gain work experience in the Creative and Cultural Industries (one of the fastest growth areas in the UK). The project has a team of Staffordshire University students developing the crowdfunding campaign, their work includes raising awareness through social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest.

It’s been a great journey so far, but we aren’t there yet. With your help we will see the designs reach production and fulfil the dreams of the young designers working on the India project - Mallika Gupta and Joanna Mathias.
