Video Test
Check out the projection test we did yesterday. The purpose was to test the projection of clothes onto Lindsey and what types o outfits would work. In the real music video hundreds of outfits will be projected onto her with dozens of projected backgrounds and locations.
During one scene in the video we will have white cardboard cutouts in a rock concert venue. We will then project the images of people onto those cutouts while the real Lindsey will have clothes projected onto her.
In the video Lindsey will doscover that life is being projected onto her by others. She will ultimately break free from the projections and be her own person.

My name is Lindsey Stirling. I am a hip hop violinist, I was
a finalist on America's Got Talent, I am a counselor of troubled teens and I
believe media has the power to change the world!
We are producing a music video for my song “Transcendence”
about living up to the greatness that is in
each of us. You can listen to the song on iTunes:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/transcendence/id402671777?i=402671783
The video is all about projection — how the world projects
images on us (particularly women), how we can allow that to twist how we see
ourselves, and about breaking free from those
projections.
We are going to accomplish this video by literally
projecting images and personality onto the main character in the video. A girl will wander through mostly neutral
environments wearing a white dress. Through the video we will see a wide variety of clothing and
worlds projected onto her like she is a screen. This creates a very unique, fun visual
effect, but it displays a powerful message. In the video, the girl
begins to find herself and her talents and gradually discovers hat the images on her are false. By the
end of the film, she stops the projections as she rocks it on her violin. By allowing herself to shine, she is able to destroy the projections on her and also starts showing other people they can do the same.
The Impact
There are very few things that I love more than being onstage and performing, but I also really want to be a positive role
model for teenage girls. Through my unique style of playing the violin, I have proven
that you don’t have to conform to be accepted. I believe the greatest gift you can give yourself is to love who you are.
This video shares an extremely powerful message for anyone.
In particular, any girl who uses unhealthy coping strategies — including eating
disorders, drugs, or cutting — can relate to this. By doing these harmful things,
girls feel that they are gaining control over their life. They feel that they
are happy as they live in this false sense of reality, but they can only gain
true freedom and happiness once they break free.
I have learned that if you are true to yourself, if you
stand for what you believe in, people will love you for who you are.
What We Need & What You Get
We are trying to raise $5,000 to produce this music video. I am working on this project
with director Nathan D. Lee, who recently received awards from both the OSCARS
(Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences) and the EMMYs (Academy of
Television Arts & Sciences) for his film Inspector 42. Nathan and his talented team are volunteering their
time to make this video come to life because they believe in the message and
they believe in me. Because of their volunteer efforts, we are already saving
thousands of dollars. That means that all the money we raise is going right onto the screen and right into the emotional impact of the piece.
The money we raise will be used for renting high-end video
projectors, purchasing wardrobe (which is critical to the theme of the piece) and for lighting and camera equipment rentals.
If we do not raise the total money in our allotted time, we
will push our shooting schedule while we raise the balance of the funds needed.
Other Ways You Can Help
The more “In-Kind” donations we can get, the less money we
will need to spend. Any donations of time, equipment, video projectors, food
or After Effects work would also be greatly appreciated. If you are in the
greater Salt Lake City area, send us a message and ask how you can help on set.
I truly believe this video will have a strong and positive
impact on many people. Join our team and help us make it a reality!
