HoliPay
A short film in the vein of Black Mirror, but comedic rather than dramatic. Mark meets up with his friend Colin in a public bar, and is introduced to the new “Holipay” app. People can pay for goods and services by having to watch tailored holographic ads that are projected in the bar - and Mark’s “colourful” internet history might prove to be more than a little embarrassing when he attempts to buy a drink for an attractive woman…
Who
I’m an aspiring writer/director/filmmaker based in London, UK. This will be my first film to try and submit to a festival. With the aid of contacts and connections within the British film industry, we have the means to create something both entertaining and different.
This is important to me because I have been trying to navigate the industry to find my place, and having the confidence to create something myself is personally very difficult as someone who has experienced mental health issues. However, I have had some very positive feedback on my writing, and this has been the inspiration for collaborators wanting to jump on board with this project.
With an experienced and talented producer/director/writer on board as a producer, a couple of talented comedic actors with fantastic chemistry, a wonderful location, and a source for some professional equipment, we have the means and the talent to make HoliPay a reality.
Now all we need is you, to help us to transition HoliPay from page to screen! This is not so much for me and the script, but more to help support our wonderful, hardworking, and talented collaborators!
What We Need
We are seeking funding for the following factors to create HoliPay. Our minimum target is £750.
Food for the crew - This is low budget, and we have some wonderful people who want to make this because they like the script and, more importantly, for fun. The very least we can do is make sure they are fed! This also helps us secure the location, and gives back to the pub who have very kindly allowed us to film in their side bar/function room.
Transport costs - We want to be able to cover train fairs and fuel costs for our collaborators, who are from all parts of London.
Equipment Insurance - I am fortunate to work at a camera rental house, where I can borrow professional film equipment for free. However, this equipment must be insured in order for us to use it.
Props/Costumes - The costumes in the story are a little unusual, so renting will most likely be required.
Risks & Challenges
Any short low budget production has risks/difficulties. The advantage we have is the group of experienced and professional people who want to help create HoliPay. This fund is to help support them whilst taking part in the project.
If You Can’t Contribute
This is completely understandable, but you can still help by spreading the word to your friends and family!
