A Brief Introduction
Honey Trap is a collaborative project led by Eleanor Kenny and Izzy Noone for their final dissertation project at the University of Bristol. Having worked together on a previous short film earlier this year, we will be collaborating again for Honey Trap, with Eleanor as director and writer whilst Izzy will be the film’s producer.
Making Honey Trap will be the culmination of our master’s studies in Film and Television at the University of Bristol. As it is our final project at university, we would like to take the opportunity to collaborate with other young creatives and filmmakers and make the best film we possibly can. In order to do this, we want to raise funds to make sure we can cover the costs of the shoot, including providing food, travel costs, props and potential festival submission. We’d also like to work with a bigger crew than we have done in the past so we can encourage everyone involved to showcase their abilities. The nature of the film means it’ll be a fun shoot and we can’t wait to get started. To keep up with how we’re getting on, make sure to keep coming back to this page as we’ll be posting regular updates detailing our progress!
Synopsis
Honey Trap is a dark comedy that follows a group of three friends who recount the details of a revenge plan on an ex-boyfriend that turned into an accidental kidnapping.
Lou, Nic and Agnes will be introduced through a series of testimonials, where they describe the series of events that led to the kidnapping. After discovering that Jas’ boyfriend has an active profile on a dating app, they turn their anger and betrayal into a plan. They will create a fake profile to catfish him, arrange to meet and finally enact their revenge. After brainstorming various options to appropriately humiliate him, they settle on an idea but it all comes crashing down when they accidentally knock him unconscious. Not wanting to leave him for dead (because that would be a potential murder charge), they decide to keep him hostage until they figure out what to do…
Inspired by Fleabag, Booksmart and American Vandal,, the film will be a fun revenge romp that will highlight the power of friendship in overcoming slimy ex-boyfriends.
Meet the Team
Writer and Director: Eleanor Kenny
This will be Ellie's first time writing and directing a short by herself, so currently she is a big bag of nerves. Though having spent the past few years as a freelance photographer, videographer and editor she's confident she can muster up a pretty sweet film.
Producer: Izzy Noone
As a natural control freak, Izzy is really thriving in her producer role. She’s covering everything from worrying about the cast and crew’s dietary requirements to getting the film into the festival circuit!
DOP: Michael Suszczenia
Since graduating in 2021, Michael has been on a roll. In 2020 he set up his company New Link Productions and has been working across the country as a gaffer and DOP for films, adverts and music videos, through which he can now claim to have worked with Bad Boy Chiller Crew and Adele's dog.
What We Need & What You Get
We are seeking funding for this film to help us look after our cast and crew whilst we are shooting the film. We have been given a small budget by our university to help fund this project but we would like to raise a bit more to ensure that we can provide food and transport for everyone involved as well as potentially submit the film to festivals after we complete it. We would really appreciate your support, no matter the size of your donation! Included below is our initial plan for distributing our budget throughout production.
