HONEYBEE WRAPS ™
Honeybee Wrap is here to stay. No more plastic wrap.
We have created an organic safe and reusable natural alternative to plastic wrap.
No chemicals, only local bees wax from the farm, certified organic cotton, jojoba oil, tree resin and love.
Ideal for wrapping fruit and veggies, covering a bowl and wrapping lunches, this unique formula seals in the goodness, keeping your food fresh for longer. No more limp celery and shallots, just beautifully kept fresh crisp veggies and herbs. Can also be used for storing bread and as a fermenter's friend it's perfect for covering Kombucha, Kefir and fermented foods .
Use the warmth of your hands to mold and shape your wrap over food and dishes. The wrap will stick to itself when you press firmly over a bowl or plate. When stored in the fridge the beeswax will harden, helping retain the shape. With due care your Honeybee wrap will last up to one year and at the end of its life you can give it back to the earth. Yes it's compostable!
Bees wax has been used for centuries for its persevering properties, along with jojoba oil which has known antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. Together they create a beautiful preserving infusion.
Eco-friendly, sustainable, waste free food storage .
Honeybee wrap the natural alternative.

The impact of a reusable Beeswax wrap.
- using a beeswax wrap instead of plastic wrap will have a huge impact on our earth. It is estimated Australians send 1 million tonnes of plastic waste to landfill each year. Do your part to make a change.
- Why use something for a few seconds that is going to spend the rest of your life trying to break down in landfill? We really need to change our habits.
-
Plastic waste can take more than 1,000 years to degrade and it is estimated that 10% of the plastic produced worldwide each year ends up in our oceans.
- Schools worldwide are implementing programmes such as Nude your food and Plastic free Tuesdays.
- Educating children on the importance of this is a must for the future.
We want you to be part of the movement to eliminate plastic from our kitchens.
Why use toxic plastic wrap and create more landfill, when there is a safer natural way for the future?
Bee part of the reusable movement - reuse, recycle, rethink.
Honeybee wrap would like to offer all our supporters a special edition print to mark the day you were part of the movement to remove plastic from our kitchens.

Honeybee wrap vs plastic wrap!
Cling Film
Out of all the kitchen wrapping products in your kitchen arsenal, none are used more than cling film. The catering industry alone uses thousands of tonnes of the product when transporting tasty treats across town, and to preserve food in the fridge or freezer. So surely, if this product is used in most kitchens, it can't be all that bad, can it?
Plastics, poisons and pollution
The mining, transporting and distilling of crude oil for the manufacture of plastic products comes with a heavy environmental price tag, including soil, water and air pollution. Plastic wrap has mostly been made from polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC) or polyvinyl chloride (PVC) - both products of crude oil. These chemicals are dangerously poisonous during production, use and incineration. Many of these toxic liquids, solids and gases escape into the environment, causing severe disruptions to natural systems.
Furthermore, both PVDC and PVC plastics are fairly rigid, so manufacturers generally add in softening chemicals called phthalates, which are known to cause hormonal disruption and developmental problems, and have been found to drift into food and the environment. These are just some of the health implications.
Disposal
Most plastic wraps are not recyclable, so they get sent to the landfill or incinerator, where toxins from the plastics can leach into soil and water, disrupting ecosystem health. When burnt, poisonous gases are released into the air.

ORGANIC COTTON.
Many people consider cotton to be one of the purest fibres on earth. When in fact, traditional chemical cotton cultivation inflicts a heavy toll on the environment. The good news is, there are now some 50 countries commercially farming cotton organically including India, Turkey, The USA, Australia, Peru and China, amongst others.
Organic farming means using ancient cotton farming knowledge combined with modern technology to create a sustainable and healthy crop. Farmers replace chemical use with methods approved by organic certifying bodies, such as SKAL (Holland), BFA Australia, AGRECO (Germany) & IMO China. These certified methods minimise the impact on the soil and water supplies and preserve the Earth for future generations.
These methods include things like:
- Eliminating the use of synthetic fertilizers and using animal manures instead.
- Eliminating the use of chemical pesticides and herbicides from every step of the farming process and using cow urine as an insecticide which is harmless to the environment.
- Hand weeding
- Introducing good bugs to eat up the bad ones.
- Organic cotton farming uses 50% less water than chemical farming.
- Allowing the plant to defoliate naturally whilst the farmers have a holiday instead of using nasty chemical defoliants.
- Letting the soil recover naturally after harvest.
BEESWAX - A natural gift from the bees - natures best.
For thousands of years, beeswax has had a wide variety of applications. It has been found in the tombs of Egypt, in wrecked Viking ships, and in Roman ruins. Beeswax never goes bad and can be heated and reused. Beeswax also has antibiotic and thermo-storing properties.
JOJOBA - Liquid produced in the seed of the Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba plant) a shrub which is native to southern Arizona, southern California, and northwestern Mexico. Jojoba oil has anti-fungal properties.
TREE RESIN - Natural safe and non toxic sap from the tree.
These three ingredients create the perfect blend to infuse the cotton, resulting in a flexible, malleable product that can be molded around your food.
