HORACE – THE ANIMATED SERIES
You've seen Horace in the funny pages. Now's your chance to help make him gallop!
Hi there! We're Kavio Productions, a small Finnish animation studio. We're on a mission to make Horace walk and, well... not necessarily talk -- maybe grunt a lot!

The comic strip Dark Side of the Horse (starring Horace) was created in 2008 by a Finnish cartoonist Samson AKA Samuli Lintula.
The comic strip is published (almost) daily on GoComics.com. Thanks to the amazing support of the cartoon syndicate Universal Uclick, Dark Side of the Horse has already built a loyal and growing fan base.

The first two pilot episodes of Horace have been produced with the generous support of the Finnish Film Foundation. Did we mention we'd love to produce more? Sometimes more is more!
The completed episodes will be published on Horace's YouTube channel.

Each episode of Horace will be approximately 40-80 seconds long. The actual animation work will be done using the excellent Anime Studio by Smith Micro Software. The production of the episodes financed by crowd funding is scheduled to start in fall 2016.
Animation will be produced in accordance with the production costs per episode with the funding received from the campaign. $3,200 will cover the production costs of one high quality episode from start to finish. The more we raise the more episodes we are able to produce! All funding received from the campaign will be invested in the production expenses after reducing the VAT (24%), the Perk expenses (10%) and the Campaign platform commissions and expenses (8-10%).

No perks, no campaign, right? The perks will be delivered to you right after the campaign has been concluded, apart from the perks of $10, $100, $200 and $1200, which are related to the publishing of completed episodes.

A comic strip like no other! By participating in our campaign with a contribution of $40 you will receive an access to 1) a PDF file containing a DSotH comic strip created exclusively for this occasion and 2) THE ultimate PDF cartoon collection "Dark Side of the Horse: The Complete Collection 2008-2016". This warts-and-all collection will contain every DSotH cartoon (there's thousands of 'em) published between July 2008 and June 2016 (Release date: Summer 2016).

Your financial support will be acknowledged with the title Executive Producer. The creator of Dark Side of the Horse, the Finnish cartoonist Samson (Samuli Lintula) sold his first cartoon in 1983. After that numerous comics, caricatures and illustrations by Samson have been published in countless newspapers, magazines and books as well as online.
The animation producer of Horace Tuomas Mäkelä graduated from the respected Irish School of Animation in 2004. After the graduation he has worked as an illustrator, animator and a producer in various projects varying from Moomin children's books to crowd games for international audiences.
