Together, we are building a ship named 'HUMAN' where people feel safe to be human. You deserve to be seen, heard and valued. This is what HUMANship is all about.
You: The reason I'm writing
As an entrepreneur, I started my author’s journey to explore how entrepreneurs bring happiness to life with the inspiration of Eric Yuan, CEO of Zoom. I am beyond thrilled to be part of Zoom's mission to deliver Happiness. It feels amazing to build something bigger than myself.
I developed the concept of HUMANship about human-to-human relationships as I discovered and learned while writing. My research has shown that the quality of relationships is the backbone of happiness. The topic of happiness is extremely broad. Why not focus on one solution I can offer to simplify relationships down to the essence: humanity? My lifelong passion and mission is to simplify relationships by thinking on a higher level as a human.
Everyone is different. As humans, we are all connected. It is an honor and privilege for me to invite you to create a movement of HUMANITY together. It is only when we feel safe being human with each other that we can form meaningful human-to-human relationships.
In a nutshell, humanship is about creating a space where people feel safe being their authentic selves and being human. We are building our HUMAN Ship with the very first 199 HUMANship leaders. Would you like to be one of the 199 by grabbing a perks package? You won't regret saying YES!
You’ll be getting a fresh off the press, first edition, signed copy of my book! Along with some other perks I’ll touch on later that come along with joining my Author Community. (As an attendee, you’ll automatically become a part of my Author Community and get a behind the scenes look on my publishing journey.) I would be honored if I could be one of the reasons you decide to write a book!
Being HUMAN is Your Superpower
As a sandwich kid in my family, I always sought attention deliberately. Being different is a survival skill I have developed over the years. In the eyes of my family, I am the one who is too sensitive and emotional, so they need to be extremely cautious when talking to me. I understand they do so out of love, but it makes me feel like I am fragile and dangerous while I am not. That's why I have always lived as a strong woman by choice.
Dr. Tal Ben Shahar, a Harvard Psychologist and my mentor, has helped me understand that my sensitivity is a strength instead of a weakness. I am just a highly sensitive human being. I wish I could have been understood as someone who is human but not emotionally driven. I wish I had been seen and heard at a deeper level beyond my emotions.
I've been there and done that. I understand how it feels when your emotions are misinterpreted. I hope that I'll make my audience feel seen and heard; make them feel relevant and whole; the sense of importance and relevance in the world. I try very hard to understand what people are going through when they're angry or hateful or when they're doing things that just don't feel right. I try to stand in their shoes as human being so that I can connect with you on a human level.
Story of My Book
HUMANship is a book about creating human-to-human relationships, the backbone of happiness. The book features a wide range of stories, from ordinary to extraordinary, to showcase how to simplify all kinds of relationships into genuine human-to-human relationships.
My name is Bailey Li and I am the author of HUMANship. I'm looking to create a movement instead of writing a book. I wrote this book to inspire people to be part of the Humanship Movement. I am delivering three messages:
- You don’t have to be a writer to write a book;
- You don’t have to be an expert to create human-to-human relationships for happiness;
- You can either solve a problem or spot the right problem and throw it away.
This isn't an instruction manual on how to deal with specific relationship problems. Rather, it employs storytelling to illustrate the essence of relationships, problem-solving philosophy, the Show-You-Care strategy, and Keep-It-Simple principles for actions. It is already within you to take care of human relationships well. All you need to do is be aware, make a decision, and keep it simple.
In reading this book, I hope you will discover the power of love and humanity, the essence of human-to-human relationships. In this book, I hope to instill the same passion and excitement that I have for Humanship. Ultimately, I want you to see this book as a tool to help you achieve happiness through human-to-human relationships.
About The Book
The book follows the Why, How, and What framework. This aligns with Simon Sinek's Golden Circle philosophy.
Part 1 begins with WHY from chapters 1 to 3
It intrigues the audience to reflect on what we have gone through collectively as humans since the 2020 pandemic. It illustrates how happiness is the ultimate purpose of life and relationships are the foundation of it. It concludes with a call to action that should not be ignored: the further we as humans move toward the edge of world challenges, the more we must beware of our basic needs as humans for survival. Let's create real positive changes together.
Part 2 continues with HOW: the Show-You-Care strategy from chapter 4 to chapter 6
It starts with a problem-solving philosophy that you can either solve the problem or spot the right problem and remove it. Too many people suffer from relationships because they want to make every relationship work. However, we have to be selective with relationships. Before we take care of any relationship, we have to decide whether it is worth it for both people to make it work, which forces us to think if the relationship will work for the two people involved. If you don't, you can always walk away instead of getting stuck and suffering.
Part 3 showcases the WHAT: Keep-It-Simple-for-Success method of creating human to human relationships from chapter 7 to 10
As long as we understand that we are in control of the relationships we want to work on, we feel so naturally inclined to take ownership. The next step would be to streamline all kinds of relationships into human-to-human relationships. Why not focus on what we have in common as human beings? All humans want to feel validated. If you care about the relationship, then you should think what you can do to make the other feel seen, heard and valued. Let's keep it simple for success!

Goals and Impact of the Campaign
Tier 1: When I hit $6,500, the ebook/softcover editions get published (this is the minimum needed)
Tier 2: When I hit $7,500, the book will get a hardcover edition
Tier 3: When I hit $9,500, the book will get a hardcover and audiobook edition
After I become fully funded and my publishing costs are covered for the closest tier possible, I will donate the remaining proceeds to Flutie Foundation, a non-profit organization helping people affected by autism live life to the fullest.
A mother-son team running the Boston Marathon inspired me to choose this organization. Both the mother and the son have made a significant impact on my life. The mom Connie is my lifelong friend and mentor who has guided me through the toughest times of my life and treated me like her sister. The son Enchee affected by autism has opened up a whole new world to me by challenging himself just like a normal human being. Can't imagine that he has hiked all around the world and ran 2 Boston Marathons. They have inspired me to run Boston Marathon in 2025. It is an honor to follow Connie and Enchee's footsteps and to pay it forward in whatever way I can.

About the Author
Bailey's mantra: Where there is a Bailey, there is a way!
Born and raised in China, Bailey came to the States for grad school in 2012. Bailey has lived on both the East and West coasts, but now calls Silicon Valley home. She is the co-founder and CEO of NAPA Academy, a Silicon Valley-based college counseling organization with 100+ mentors all over the States. She believes in the life-changing power of education. She is dedicated to helping people discover what lights them up and how they can make an impact on their communities.
Bailey has always dreamed of making a bigger impact with her voice as a speaker and author. She wrote HUMANship as she believes that everyone has the inner power to take good care of those relationships that matter to them. She is a compassionate listener who can make others feel seen, heard, and cared. When she listens, she treats them as humans without any judgment. She doesn’t believe in 'GuanXi', but she is a master in building rapport with human to human relationships. Whatever she does, she wants to inspire people to be bold to be themselves as human.

International Preorders
For international preorders, please do the following:
-
Identify the perk that interests you
- Select the pink "Back it" button to "Make a contribution" for the same amount (this choice bypasses the shipping address page)
- Message me or send me an email at baileyli2017@gmail.com to share your mailing address, so I can take care of the rest.
Risks & Challenges
The biggest challenge with publishing a book is delivering the finished book to the backer, specifically my mailing of the book to you. I have eliminated this risk by building into the campaign the mailing and shipping costs of your signed copies to you within each pre-order tier. For international backers, please see section above.
The risk of delivering the pre-sale copies of my book is contingent on the publisher we use. I will be working closely with New Degree Press to make sure we get the earliest possible ship date of the signed book copy to you. We will keep all pre-sale backers up-to-date as my book hits each key milestone and publishes. You will know when the copies are expected to ship.
Other Ways You Can Help
Not everyone can support, but that doesn't mean you can't get something out of it!
I will reward the top 3 people who refer the most backers at the end of the campaign
Here's how:
- At the top of the campaign page, you will see the "share" buttons. Click on the "chain" icon to get a custom link just for you. (Note: don't use the URL in the browser window as it won't work to track referrals and you won't get credit)
- Copy that link and paste it on your social media, email it to a friend, or text a fellow book lover.
- When someone clicks on that link and backs the book, you get 1 entry!
Please use #humanship and tag me as well as my publisher, New Degree Press, so we can help amplify your efforts!
