Presentation
My name is Gabriella Iannelli, I am Italian, very Italian but I feel a citizen of the world as I lived a bit everywhere.
My passion for cinema became evident when I chose to write my university thesis on this matter.
While working as an entrepreneur in international exhibitions I got lucky to get sucked into the whirl of the seventh art again. Ever since, I started working in the industry as a film producer living in Los Angeles. Thereafter I developed my skills studying acting, writing and directing at NYFA and AADA in New York and LA.
I am author and producer of several corporate videos, advertisements, tv formats and shorts, both comedies and dramas.
Today I am ready to make a short movie set in a post war Sicily. It’s the story of Lia, a girl who overcomes the strict mentality of her village to follow her dream.
This crowdfunding campaign aims at funding the production of a 21 min shortfilm.
We already worked at the pre-production of the movie: Script has been written. Locations have been selected and permits of the mayor of a South West Sicily village already achieved. A long casting work has been carried out to put together a cast of authentic faces, willingly first time on screen. Crew on board, director, DOP, sound engineer, costume, music, editor are waiting for your contribute to set the shooting started. The highlights we produced gives you a hint of the photography, mood and texture of our work.
"With my movie I wanna picture a portrait of an authentic Sicily, rough but pure piece of poetry. A land of olive groves and salt, with its genuine people from the skin burnt by the sun and a deep love for their tradition."
Thank to stories of courage of our grandmothers we women are what we are today: independent, accomplished and happy.

Synopsys
i baci rubati - a short film
In a post-war little village in Sicily, Lia, a genuine and sparkling 18 year old girl with the passion of writing, fights against the narrow-minded mentality of her home village for her right to study and to love Valerio, the son of her school principal.
Her commitment and determination with an ardor always respectful and delicate will make Lia loosen the bars of a mentality which sees the woman involved with embroidering instead of education and the woman as completion of man rather than capable to fulfil her dreams as an individual.
Once she wins the award as Best pen in Sicily she has been offered an job in a major editor. Freedom though has the bitter price to leave the unconditional and protective love of her family, of her school mates and her handsome Valerio.
Cast
For the cast I believe in the “first time on screen faces”, cast among the streets of the village.
Following the 2 main leads.
Giuliana Palmeri, playing Lia
Extremely young singer and dancer, besides winner of horse-riding awards, Giuliana embodies a breathtaking Sicilian beauty not stereotyped, very dark and shaped like Monica Bellucci but nevertheless authentic, bright curls and chestnut eyes with spots of the green of the bottom of the oil.
Riccardo Bono, playing Valerio
Authentic Sicilian beauty, Riccardo was born, raised and keeps on choosing to live in Campobello di Mazara working as a craftsman. Similar/related personality to Valerio, shy but determined, tied to his land but open-minded, able to love unconditionally but able to let his love go.
Crew
This movie wouldn’t be possible without the talent, sensitivity and passion of our technical cast.
Director and Producer: Gabriella Iannelli
Born in Milan with Sicilian origin, worked in Los Angeles in the film industry, both production and acquisition, studied filmmaking at New York Film Academy in 2012. She directed several corporate videos, advertisements, tv formats and short movies, both comedies and dramas.
Screenwriter: Giancarlo Pace
Born in Palermo, studied Modern Literature, master in the Economics of Cultural Heritage and Communications at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, talented composer and writer of several novels. In his delicate style he is able to convey a portrait of Sicily as a piece of poetry.
Executive Producer: Stella Sutton
She lived between Milan, Tel Aviv, Beirut and Sao Paulo. Creative, innovative and organized she started as a very young entrepreneur developing start ups. Long career as a producer for tv shows and advertisements.
Photography: Gabriele De Palo
Born in Palermo, studied at Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome, has worked since 2010 as Director of Photography in independent committed films. Among the many projects he was involved with “Into the sea” by Sergio Castellitto.
Music: Maestro Giuseppe Maurizio Piscopo
Born in Favara near Agrigento, Sicily. As a kid he learns to play his accordion from an old barber, buys a very old one from Frank Castelli in NY and plays in Paris. He composed film tracks for festival and theatre movies where he conveys the sound of Sicily.
Costumes: Barbara Anselmo
Born in Palermo, 4 kids, worked on the costumes for famous movies like Il traditore by Marco Bellocchio, Ficarra e Picone, Lando Buzzanca besides series and tv shows.
We chose the fix campaign because that's the minimum amount to bring the project to light. This is the reason why there are no risks in the production of this film to be shot next June 2020 in Sicily and edited by September 2020. We'll focus thereafter in putting the movie in festivals all over the world. We are confident that your commitment and our work will be awarded and reach the art of the audience.
