witnessing a new Ice Age. The player will create his/her own character and live
an adventure across the White Wasteland, struggling each day to survive,
without losing hope to find a better place where to thrive. Icy mixes role-play
and survival dynamics, allowing the player to lead a nomad family in their

Gameplay
Icy will be
a narrative experience which will put the player in the role of a nomad family
leader, traveling for survival in a hostile post-apocalyptic world. The player
will be the one who will set the course, manage the supplies and, most of all,
take the important decisions.
![]()
In terms of
gameplay the player will manage most practical things on a 2D map with a
complete interface that will allow he/she to travel around the world, hunt
in the woods, scavenge old cities searching for something useful, manage the inventory
and the party. All the actions that aren't really interesting from a narrative
point of view will be managed through the map, but Icy is a narrative game and
we created a proper system to let the player shape his/her own story in the
game.
![]()
The map will be similar to the ones we saw in games like Fallout or
Arcanum and the player will be able to travel from an important location to
another just by clicking on it. The map system will also simulate the different
kind of terrain and the different levels of danger across the world: travelling
through the woods will be slower than walking on an open road, but bandits can’t
easily detect you and the wild beasts are usually easier to manage than a group
of people armed with guns.

All events
that are narratively interesting will be played using a game-book like system.
We will use texts, 2D images, music and sounds to create a compelling
storytelling that will allow the player to have a remarkable freedom of choice
on both short and long terms. The player will have the full control on his/her
character actions and words, allowing a deep roleplaying experience. Having
these two different dimensions of gameplay allow us to create narrative content
only for important events, without creating boring contents or random contents.

The
character's stats will be really important in the game because the outcome of
most choices is directly related to one or more skills. That doesn't mean that
the player won't need to think to do the best choices, but that the plot will be
affected by character's specializations and there will be a lot of different
ways to solve a problem.
Setting
The
post-apocalyptic setting of Icy is characterized by a never-ending winter. It
will have a deep impact on all the themes we are exploring during the game.
Most of the Earth is covered with ice and snow, and the land suitable for
living is only a quarter of what it used to be.

What caused
the world to turn into a White Wasteland? No one knows exactly what happened, though the legends are countless. Some say it was war, others say there was a cataclysm, and all stories differ. What is certain is the cloud of dust still in the atmosphere, and the forgotten color of the sky. Will the player have the chance to uncover the truth behind those legends?

The
playable character will be part of a nomad family and will travel around the
Frozen World, constantly worrying about finding food and shelter. Nomads' life
is not easy: banditry is a common activity because there’s no law. The animals
claimed back their land and a small human group is an easy prey for predators.
The harsh climate is a constantly present threat in a survivor's life.
Why Indiegogo?
Why are we
on Indiegogo? Icy is a self-funded project, but the little money we have is not
enough to cover all the expenses we are facing. We could simply cut some
content and release a simpler version of the game, but we want Icy to be as
good as possible. That’s why we are here asking for your support. With a
successful campaign we will be able to cover some legal expenses and spend more
time refining and improving Icy. The result will be a better, more polished and
definitely more enjoyable experience.

Perks
FAQ
Will Icy be DRM-free?
Yes, there
will be DRM-free version of the game, at the same price.
On which platform will Icy be
released?
On PC
(Windows, Mac and Linux).
In which stage of development is the game?
We have
finished working on the core features and we’re now polishing and improving it,
in order to release a better game, with more contents and less bugs.
Why are you asking only for 2500$?
The game is in an advanced phase of the development, we just need some more money to be able to fully polish it. Being gamers we know how annoying could be to buy an incomplete or bugged game, that’s why we want Icy to be fully enjoyable since day one.
In which languages will Icy be available?
We wrote Icy in English and we have an editor that is already proofreading all the game contents. The game is getting translated in Italian too, but we don’t know if this translation will be available since day one.
I noticed that the English is not always so good, are you going to fix this?
Yes, we’re working with an experienced editor who is already proofreading all the in-game contents and we will soon integrate all the corrections in the game. Since we have a low budget, we focused our editor’s efforts on the game and not on the marketing stuff, that’s why you may sometimes notice a not so goo englis, but we can asure yu we will works on tis.
I don’t want to be racist, but you are an Italian team of developers and I don’t want my money to finance any criminal organization. How can we trust you?
If we had our hands in business like drugs dealing, prostitution or weapons smuggling, we could have asked for money from our godfather. Sadly we have no connections with the local organized crime, so we settled for an Indiegogo campaign.
I don’t like you and I don’t like your game. What should I do?
You should totally back it, taking the cheapest perk available, then wait until the release to criticize us on your socials and in your favorite communities, questioning the overall quality of our project.
