Short Summary

My name is David Givens and I am the Founder of the theater company "I Act, You Act!." I received my degree in Theater Arts at Hunter College and have worked in theater for over five years in NYC as a Director, Writer, Stage Manager and Actor.

I started this theater in order to give back to my community and expose them to the world of arts. With the help of my partner Taylor Gibson of "All Lives Matter Ltd" we aim to inspire and empower those of all ages in our community by providing them a platform in which to showcase their many talents. In the world we live in we believe it is crucial that everyone begin working together to uplift one another. What better way to do that than through telling their stories?

We are currently working out of Metropolitan Community Methodist Church, a historical staple located in the heart of Harlem. During the course of my career I have come to realize that having a degree does not guarantee you a job in your field, nor does it mean that you have the experience. Our mission is to teach those who have taken classes in theater how to effectively transform what they have learned into great acting. We also want to teach and develop skills in those who have no experience but aspire to be great actors.

Our current issue is that the theater space has become deteriorated from years of neglect. We want to breathe life back into this space but I am lacking the funds to do so. With these funds I Act, You Act will be able to repair the flooring and the windows, install proper lighting and sound equipment and hopefully repaint the walls. These renovations will provide a higher range of quality for the production team and audience members as well as a safer environment for our actors/actresses!

What We Need & What You Get

·    An estimated $3500 to renovate the stage floor, repair the windows, install  proper lighting, install an updated sound board system and repaint the walls.

·    We'll be offering exclusive first or last night tickets to our first production. This will include an exclusive meet and greet with the ENTIRE production team and a signed autographed picture of the cast!
