THE ULTIMATE 80'S ACTION MOVIE MASHUP VIDEO - WORLD PREMIERE!
Click on the video below and prepare to dial the nostalgia up to eleven! How many '80s Action classics can you spot?
“In Search of the Last Action Heroes” will be the most comprehensive retrospective of the ‘80s action film genre ever made. Now in production, we’re giving fans one last opportunity to join the journey, claim exclusive rewards, and to be the first to see it.
Matrix, Rambo, McClane, Ripley, Connor, Dutch - the power of their stories excited and inspired a generation of action enthusiasts. Join us as we explore what made these films a success, how they evolved through the ‘90s, and what caused their eventual decline.
With 25+ interviews and 100 hours of footage under our belts (and more to come), we’ve already got some amazing material. Here’s a glimpse at a few of our favourite bits so far:
-
Bill Duke (Predator, Commando) discusses The Predator’s difficult production – and being on set when Jean-Claude Van-Damme was fired.
-
Vernon Wells (Commando) on his role as iconic villain Bennett – and how to steal scenes from under Arnold Schwarzenegger.
-
Cynthia Rothrock (China O’Brien, Lady Dragon) on the obstacles she faced when entering the action genre – and why Hong Kong was easier to break into than Hollywood.
-
Producer Mario Kassar (First Blood, Rambo II, Total Recall, Red Heat) discusses how he brought the Rambo franchise from page to screen – and how it came to redefine action cinema.
-
Ronny Cox (RoboCop) on how he almost reprised his role as corporate villain Richard “Dick” Jones in RoboCop 2 – despite his character dying in the first film.
-
Screenwriter Steven E. de Souza (Commando, Running Man, Die Hard) talks about the challenges (and joys) of writing Arnie’s one-liners.
-
Screenwriter Graham Yost (Speed, Broken Arrow) on the evolution of action films into the ‘90s.
-
Composer Stan Bush (Bloodsport, Kickboxer) on how to write an inspirational power ballad.
-
Screenwriter Zak Penn (Last Action Hero, Ready Player One) on why nostalgia for the 1980s is stronger now than ever before.
Following strong early support from the industry and fans we’ve expanded the scope of our vision considerably, and we are now in discussions with several very exciting action A-listers who we hope to announce soon.
The documentary will be released in November 2019 for backers only, which means this is your last chance to pre-order and become part of the journey. We’ve got several options for distribution after that, but this is the only place to get the documentary in this form, with these rewards, and before anyone else.

Why We Are Making This Film
We love this genre – the characters, the stories, and the personalities behind them. We want to help those born in the ‘80s and ‘90s to rediscover some the magic that made these films so iconic, as well as feed the imaginations of the new generation of fans who are now discovering the movies their parents love.
We’ve all got our stories – our favourite characters, scenes, and films and how we first saw them. But behind the memories of questionable hairstyles, bulging muscles, and seemingly endless body counts, there are the more personal stories of the stars, directors, producers, writers and locations. Together, they form the story of a genre that shaped a generation.
We’re going to delve deeper into this era – what was it like to be part of it? What made it so special? And how much of this world still exists?
We’re going to tell this story – and we want you to join us.
