The Fourth Annual Indianapolis Winter Magic Festival needs to pay the rent.
Hi, I'm Taylor Martin and with the folks at Indy Fringe we've been putting on the Winter Magic Festival for the past 3 years. Now, we need a little help in financing this year's event. Since we are using 2 theatres, both our Indy Fringe Basile, 719 E. St. Clair, for close-up and platform performances, and The Cook Theatre @ Indiana Landmarks Center 12th and Central Ave., we need some help paying the rent. So, we've worked out a series of perks to get your money to vanish from your wallet and appear at the landlord's facility almost by magic.
With the line up we're having, you can't but help want to take advantage of the offers below. January 16-19, 2014.
What We Need & What You Get
We figure that $3,000 will give us a great financial base to bring the acts to Indy and help pay for the rent of the Cook Theatre. The Great Tomsoni himself, Johnny Thompson is coming. This Time I Got It!! Even though he has retired his legendary dove act, Johnny will be doing a show of some of the great magic he's created and learned in nearly 60 years of performing. He will be doing 2 shows. The one on Saturday at 9 will have an opportunity for you to meet him afterwards. Plus, we have The Crescent Circus from New Orleans, The Action Bros. from Louisville, and Kayla Drescher, the winner of the "Next Great Magician" Search, who was selected by David Copperfield himself. Also, Jamahl Keye's "Broadway Magic" and returning from last year's "Champions of Magic" show, Trent James in his first full length set here in Indy. And that's just at The Cook. At The Basile Fringe, we have 5 of the best close-up and platform shows you'll ever see in one venue. Louisville's Cody Comet, Indy's Caleb Wiles, Indy's Ryan Siebert, Kentucky'sJohn Shore, and from Kokomo the Amazing Obtuse will produce more intimate shows of about 30 minutes to delight you with wonders that only other magicians usually see.
The Impact
What does this all mean? Well, Indianapolis is becoming a destination for magicians and fans of the art and by contributing it means we can make this even bigger. We expect magic fans from as far away as Cleveland and Chicago to attend. Your contribution will just show them why Indy is a special and magical place. And in January, what better way to make the winter days warmer than to see a magic show with your family and friends?
Other Ways You Can Help
If you can't contribute, just spread the word among your friends, fellow magicians, and fans of wonder. And you can attend a few shows, too. Ticket prices are going to be in the $7-15 range with Johnny's shows at $30. And if you wish to donate without taking one of the perks, that would be wonderful. Perk items can be mailed or picked up at the Festival.
