Who is Junghoon Lee?
![]()
Hello friends,
I am Junghoon Lee and I was born in a small town in South Korea. As a child, I fell in love with movies like GoodFellas and StarWars. I was intrigued with the American film culture, and I knew I needed to be a part of it. I also knew I had no means of obtaining that dream. My family would support me in any way they could, but finances were not something we had excess of.
Luckily for me, I speak Japanese and English exceptionally well for a South Korean and was able to secure a job in translation being tri-lingual. I saved up as much money as I could and then kissed my parents goodbye on my way to the Big Apple. There, I was able make connections, furthering my education at the New York Film Academy.
After completing a 1 year intensive program I have now moved to Los Angeles to complete my Master's in Filmmaking. One step closer to my dream. I am now gearing up for my thesis which will be a short Dark Comedy.
Before we get into my new project, please see my current work, this reel was made out of a collection of 10 short films I directed in the past two years!
We all know the beauty of the frame starts in the mind of the Director of Photography.
It is with this in mind that I would be honored to show you the reel of our talented
DoP, Shu Hirayama.
Why is this project important?
Have you ever thought about cheating on a test? Scribbling a few answers onto your desk, creating a complex rhythm of coughs with your buddy, taping notes to the brim of your hat, the possibilities go on. This film is meant to delve into this extremely common obstacle in a teen's life, where external pressure finally sets in, and they need to decide how to best combat the feeling of inadequacy.
What We Need & What You Get
I have assembled a team that I trust with all my heart, and we are ready to embark on a journey that I have been waiting for since I was a child. With your help, I can obtain my dreams.
Born In Heaven is a very complex film with a lot of special effects, wardrobe, and location demands. While essential to the plot and narrative, it does unfortunately raise the budget just out of our reach. "How can you help," you ask. For as little as 10$ you can become a part of this wonderful project, and help me take one more step toward my dreams. I have created a list of perc. packages based on the size of your donation and listed it below.
- $10- Thank you in the credits.
- $50- All above, plus High Res Copy of film.
- $100- All above, plus downloadable film poster.
- $5000- All above, plus Executive Producer Credit, and a plane ticket to LA for the debut screening in Warner Bros. Studios.
