We are overwhelmed by the support for our crowdfunding campaign so far. The support and hype for our project has meant that we have fully funded our campaign in less than 6 hours! Having surpassed our initial goal, we are pleased to introduce 3 exciting Stretch Goals.
But what are Stretch Goals?
Stretch Goals are exciting milestones that we want to reach with our campaign. When we reach these milestones, we will have the resources to offer additional options to our backers at no extra cost to you. With our stretch goals, we want to give our community more choice and control over our development path. As we have exceeded our initial targets, we are setting our goals even higher.
20.000€ - The Inflabi in the colour Mint will be released
50.000€ - Sizes S and XL will be released ahead of schedule
100.000€ - A 3rd colour/pattern selected by the community will be released.

The Inflabi solution is genius and simple. When you want to move through the city, you simply remove Inflabi from it’s bag. Inflate it to 2bar/30psi and wear it for protection like any other helmet. The beauty of our design occurs when you are at your destination. You can then let the air out in 5s and put Inflabi into your bag or pocket to continue about your day without any bulky fuss.

We are thankful and extremely proud to have been backed by some great organisations up to this stage in our journey. From what started out as an Idea in University has expanded to a team of 8 people working in-sync to develop Inflabi. Where we are now would not have been possible without the help of funding, grants, and investment from many great organisations. We continue to work closely with Universities in Germany and with our accelerator programs, including the European Space Agency. All we are missing from our support network is avid cyclists like you!

Creating a new idea takes more than just a team; it requires building everything from the ground up. From initial design to rigorous testing and gearing up for production, we've crafted countless prototypes and will continue to do so until our product is ready for launch.
Up to this point, our team of test users has been invaluable. Numerous enthusiastic volunteers have joined as testers, playing a critical role in refining each iteration of our designs. Their feedback has been instrumental in our development process.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our test users. The overwhelming interest to join our test team meant we couldn't send a prototype to everyone. To include more voices in our journey, we launched the Inflabi Development Forum on Canny. This platform allows our early supporters to share tips and queries directly with our design team.
We're happy to announce that access to the Canny Inflabi Community Development Forum is now an exclusive add-on to our Indiegogo campaign. It's a unique opportunity for our backers to be part of our design process and contribute to the final product.

Easily check the pressure with the integrated pressure gauge in the bike pump and stop pumping until it shows 2bar/30psi. This process takes around 20-45s depending on your practice. Further on, our future valve comes with a pressure gauge to easily check the pressure security and gives you the trust that the helmet is in a safe state. Also it opens up the variety of pumps you could use because they don't need a pressure indication anymore.

Once deflated, Inflabi is the most compact helmet available. It fits into pretty much any normal bag and even your jacket pocket!

When deflated the Inflabi helmet is more compact than a standard half litre water bottle.

We've elevated our helmet design by incorporating a unique textile fabric on the top layer. This innovation not only offers greater impact and abrasion protection but also opens up a world of aesthetic possibilities. Now, you can choose from a variety of colors and patterns to match your personal style while enjoying advanced safety features. The textile cover will be water repellent and breathable at the same time so you can have peace of mind in rainy winters and hot summers.

We understand the importance of a perfect fit, that is why we've designed our helmets with our own flexible band system that adapts seamlessly to every head shape. Standard band systems and chin straps simply are not designed to work optimally with a helmet like ours. That is why we have worked over various iterations to develop a custom band system unique to Inflabi. With our flexible size that covers M/L available at launch and our new band system, we can ensure a great fit for nearly every head. More sizes will be unlocked when the stretch goal is reached, find out more in the "Sizes" section.

Our Inflatable helmet stands out in a world of boring, bulky bike helmets. Using our advanced air technology instead of traditional EPS foam, means we can offer superior impact absorption in a lightweight design. But Inflabi is more than just safety, it’s a packable and stylish accessory that complements your lifestyle.

All helmets in Europe and other countries that accept European standards must meet a minimum level of safety protection in order to be sold and legally classified as a bicycle helmet. These standards are also known as EN1078 certification. Even though the Inflabi is a helmet like nothing you've ever seen before, we still have to pass these standards before we ship. Our research shows that our air-cushion technology could be up to 4 times safer than the test levels!
We are confident that Inflabi will be certified very soon. We are in close contact with our certification partner. We have already passed the first tests and our safety engineer Max is working hard on this issue. Our unique air technology with priorized date of patent has the ability that the energy of an impact is evenly distributed through the air cushions. The energy is absorbed by compressing the air, unlike a traditional EPS helmet where the energy is absorbed by cracking the structure on impact.
This makes the Inflabi not only safer, but also reusable after an impact. In case of a small fall or a real crash, as long as the Inflabi is airtight, it guarantees safety.
There is also scientific study from Stanford university where they researched about the protective effect of airbag helmets and how they behave in case of an impact: https://stanfordhealthcare.org/publications/438/438208.html
We are currently testing it in our workshop and results are positive. We have a close partner who will help us to get the certification in Europe. Sorry US and international community, you will have to wait until we go for the US certification. Our next steps are to optimise the structure of our air cushions and to carry out a lot of tests in-house to further optimise the safety. Then we will go for official certification with our accredited partner. Of course, for the safety of our backers, we will not ship the helmets until they have all the necessary certifications.

Rest assured that not a single Inflabi will leave our workshop without intense testing and quality assurance signed off by our chief designer. All of the helmets produced for the campaign will be made directly in our workshop by the Inflabi team and hand packaged and most importantly tested in-house before being sent to our loyal backers.

To realise the product, we have our own production welding machine. We have already tested the first design of our mass production welding machine and it works (picture above, top left)!
We are already in contact with a welding partner to realise larger production batches.
We also have partners for the other parts such as the TPU valve and the band system.
We are now at the stage of revising the structure of the helmet to fully comply with EN1078 certification. With our new air-cushion structure of the helmet and a pressure of 2 bar/30 psi, we have already passed the test in-house.
Speaking of material, this is also a major part of getting through certification. Thanks to our material, which is a polyamide laminated with a TPU membrane, the helmet is very strong when inflated. The properties of the polyamide fabric ensure the highest level of abrasion, tear and puncture resistance. The material we plan to use has a weight of 275 g/m2 and is currently giving good results. If there are any problems with the material during certification, we can switch to a stronger 390 g/m2 fabric, which also ensures that the helmet withstands more pressure in the event of an impact. On the other hand, it does add a little weight to the helmet. But don't worry, the helmet will still be pretty light for a helmet. The weight of the helmet will be around 250 grams.

Three Colour options will be available at campaign. The first is a simple Black Inflabi Helmet with an orange peel interior. This color is available from the very start (left in the picture).
The second colour is our Inflabi Mint with a black interior (middle in the picture).
This color will become available when we reach a funding of minimum 20k.
Not enough when our stretch goal of 100K is reached , we will be able to offer another color: it could be urban purple grey with black interior (right in the picture) but we want you to decide in a survey after the campaign what you wish us to realize for the last color of the helmet :)
Inflabi will be initially available in one size which covers the sizes Medium & Large.
We are currently working on developing more sizes for the near future. If we reach our stretch goal of 30K, we will be in a position to develop a size S and XL ahead of schedule and as a part of this campaign.

Being passionate cyclists, be it on mountain bikes or road bikes, we know how important it is to wear a helmet when doing sports. However, there are a lot of people who don't want to wear a helmet because helmets are often seen as bulky, uncomfortable or not stylish, both in everyday life and in the city. So we asked ourselves how to motivate more people to wear their helmets while cycling and look stylish at the same time. Our idea of the Inflabi therefore meets the needs and requirements of urban cyclists and ensures more safety on the roads.

At the end of the campaign, we will send you a Backerkit survey via email.
From there, you will be able to choose your: Color, size, and other add-ons we might release throughout the campaign.
The beauty of choosing your colors at the end of the campaign, is that you will be able to choose from all the new colors that we release at each stage of the campaign.
Initially, size M/L will be available. When the first stretch goal of 100k € is reached, we will offer the helmet in sizes S and XL.
We are currently working on some Inflabi merchandise, ranging from other cycling gear to everyday wear items. Once we lock down the designs and start building prototypes, we will share them with you! You will also be able to buy these add-ons through the Backerkit survey.
Shipping, Taxes (and VAT) will be calculated and paid for towards the end of the campaign, before we ship the helmets out to you. In these uncertain times, shipping costs have risen significantly. Therefore, we are now charging an estimated shipping cost.
Here are our estimates of what shipping would cost:
Germany: 7€
EU: 12€
Switzerland: 16€
UK: 16€
* Prices do not include taxes and VAT. These are subject to the laws and regulations of each country.
** Please note that these prices are subject to change and may increase or decrease by a few dollars in the coming months.
"I don't see my country as a shipping option": If you don't see your country as a shipping option, it means that we don't currently offer shipping to that country. However, if you're from a country not listed above, please email us and we'd love to hear from you. If enough of you request it so that it makes logistical sense to ship to that country, we will add it as an option later on.
