Interface is run as a labor of love by gallery director, Suzanne L’Heureux, who founded the gallery seven years ago. The primary emphasis has been on building relationships with and among artists and supporting their work.
- The gallery offers artists a chance to take risks, explore new ideas and introduce new bodies of work.
- We present works created by a mix of local, national, and international emerging and established artists to emphasize a broad contemporary art context.
- Our interdisciplinary Creative Engagements series instigates generative exchanges among artists and audiences and across creative communities.
- We offer financial support to exhibiting artists.

Over the last year alone, Interface distributed over $5000 to artists and other cultural producers who presented with us.
Like many non-profit art spaces, Interface relies on a variety of models to support this work. While we have been fortunate to receive several grants, we still need the ongoing support of our community. We need to raise another $3000 to cover our expenses until the end of the year and another $5000 to put us in good stead as we plan for the year to come.
To accomplish this, we are instigating:
- This online campaign
- An online auction - Click Here
- An Art Sale and Party on September 6th, from 6-8 pm - Click Here

More and more, we are losing independent art spaces in the Bay Area that provide meaningful, professional exhibition opportunities for artists. Interface serves an essential function in our changing cultural landscape. We provide a crucial link in the arts eco-system for early to mid-career artists who have yet to gain recognition by commercial galleries and local institutions. We operate on a shoestring. And we do it because we love art and because we are dedicated to supporting and expanding our art communities.
Despite the high costs of operating in the Bay Area Interface continues to present dynamic programming that enriches the local art scene. We need your support to continue to do it!
Exhibitions at Interface have been highlighted on many local and international publications and platforms including, Art Forum, Art Slant, Art News, Contemporary Art Daily, Art Practical, The San Francisco Chronicle, SFAQ, the East Bay Express and KQED Arts. Additionally, Interface has received grants from the Clorox Company Foundation, The Zellerbach Family Foundation, The Awesome Foundation, Southern Exposure, The Kenneth Rainin Foundation and The Phyllis C. Wattis Foundation for the Arts.
Your support will help us continue to do this work!
