INTO THE ABYSS
A Web Series
Dream, Pierre! Productions and 5th Wall Productions
The End of Days : It can't be argued that we're living in troubled times. What with homelessness, unemployment, poverty, drugs, gang violence, prostitution, wars and rumors of war, the more and more difficult to deny theories of climate change, our nation... our world... is on the brink of, at the very least, a dramatic change. The world has become a darker place, our country has become a darker place, and the people who live herein have begun to absorb that darkness, make it a part of themselves, and thrust it back out in retaliation against their enemies... their friends... their families... themselves.
This is the world in which the characters of Into the Abyss find themselves. In the small town of Hope, Louisiana, hiding in the shadows of the troubled and ravaged city of New Orleans, residents struggle to find their little piece of a broken American Dream. What starts as a simple, almost cliche' story of forbidden love... the rich doctor's daughter and the poor boy from the other side of the tracks... quickly spirals down into an abyss so deep, so dark, that none of them may have the strength to survive. The two families, one rich and the other impoverished, find themselves drawn into the big Crescent City world of destitution and darkness, villainy and voodoo, and a war that may well end all wars. When we reach the end of the first season, and you know who you love, who you hate, who you're pulling for, who you hope dies an agonizing death... we're going to pull the plug, turn the tables, and plunge them all into a world too dark and deadly even for them. New friendships will be formed, old allegiances will succumb to a knife in the back, and hearts and souls will do things they never imagined they would do to try to survive. The first season will be great... the second, even better!
THE GOAL
What we hope to accomplish with this web series is to attract the attention of the network executives at HBO or Showtime and see this little internet project become the next big television hit. What started out as an acting exercise for our acting group has taken on a life of its own, and everyone wants to see it grow into a monster! This prospect certainly appeals to us!! It will allow us to get to work on our next project, the feature-length version of a short film we produced last year which received a best short film nomination. The ultimate goal is to go from producing 15 minute shorts that are shown only in my mothers living room, to feature length epics that the whole world gets a chance to see!... modest ambitions, I know.
WHERE WE STAND
Help!!!! We don't need a great deal, to be honest. We have camera/light/sound equipment. Most of our locations have been confirmed. Cast and crew are committed to working this project for the experience only... praise them all!!! So, it comes down to the small things. Water and food for our cast and crew. They're working for free, so we've just gotta feed them! There's still a good deal of wardrobe we need to purchase. Some of our people are coming from out of town, and we'd like to drop 'em a little cash for gas. Y'know, little things...
It takes around three days of shooting to complete a thirty minute web episode, and we're doing something in the range of twenty episodes. So, we're gonna have to feed a lot of people a lot of food... a lot of times! What we're asking for may cover half of it. And, we're hoping this series really will take on a life of its own and will start making enough money to, at the very least, pay for its own production from there on out.
So, in short... too late, I know... we just need a little help. We're almost there. We start shooting on October 20th, and will make it through the first half dozen episodes. After that, things are gonna start getting tight. It'll be bread and water for the cast/crew... butter if they're lucky. I beg of you!!... I beseech you!!!... please don't let this happen!! The horror!!!! The inhumanity!!!! (Ok, that's enough of that)... Just give us a hand. As little as $5 from everyone who reads this will be enough to get us on the right track!
It's gonna be a great journey! I'm so excited about the second season I can't wait to show everyone what's in store for these poor, hapless characters I've created. I really want to make this journey all the way to the end... and I'd love you to make this journey with us!!
Projected expenses:
Locations - $2000 It can be so hard finding the right locations. More people are welling to let you use a location if you can put a little cash in their pockets.
Craft Services - $2000 Food prices are going up by the day it seems. This alone can go a long way in the making of this web series.
Cast/Crew - $2000/ We want to be able to give back. Show them that we support them as well.
Insurance/Permits - $2000 Always good to have...you never know when you might brake something.
Props/Wardrobe - $2000
Thank you for your time and consideration!
We'll see you in Hope!
Thank you
