What is "Jello Shot"?
Jello Shot is a 2-minute animated short film, created entirely by me, Apollo Avery, a 4th year Animation student at Sheridan College! This is my final thesis, so I've been working hard - it's the only thing that stands between me and sweet, sweet graduation!
I still want to make this the best project I can, though, so I'm raising funds to help pay my composer and sound designer (the wonderful Johnny Knittle) as well as cover the costs of entering my film into festivals.
Where is the Money Going?
I am hoping to raise 1000CAD, here is where that money would go:
- 700CAD (70%): paying my composer
- 200CAD (20%): entering my film into festivals
- 50CAD (5%): indiegogo fees
- 50CAD (5%): printing promo materials, other unexpected costs
The goal is flexible, so I will divide however much money I end up raising into those percentages, and supply the rest out of pocket. I am a broke student with two part-time jobs and rent to pay, so anything you give is extremely appreciated!
All contributors' names will be included in the credits of my film.
What is "Jello Shot" About?
The plot of Jello Shot is simple: when Ana's roommate Sophie messes up a recipe badly enough to spawn a giant slime monster in their kitchen, the two must set their differences aside to defeat the monster and free their third roommate, David (who has been eaten). Shenanigans ensue.
I am animating Jello Shot in ToonBoom Harmony. Character animation will be rigged (I love making rigs, plus it saves time on cleanup), while slime/fx animation will be hand-drawn. I'm expecting to finish it by April of 2023, and am currently elbow-deep in production.
This film is a love letter to my own wonderful roommates, and the horrors of shared college accommodations. Hopefully it'll make you laugh.
