About the Film

A woman tries to survive a post-apocalyptic world, she ends up getting captured and forced to kill to survive Drexes and his ruthless war dogs.

Short Summary

Hello, my name is Masharne Nixon. I am a film director based in Maryland. My passion for film goes way back to my childhood. I loved how films were made and I always tried to figure out the special effects. I worked hard to put myself through school and I was the first in my family to get a degree. I got my degree in Multi-Media Production. As a kid and as an adult I would always come up with these unique stories. Originally it started with comic books where I was drawing comic books to create my own stories. When I became an adult I started turning my stories into short films. The film Jenocide is my first serious film where I had a large cast and crew. I was able to bring together a lot of people with similar passions to make my story come to life. It was completely volunteer and even international. Jenocide took on a life of its own and I would like to turn it into a full film. I feel like Hollywood often recycles ideas, while a post-apocalyptic world is not in itself original, I feel that my characters and take on it is. I was very impressed with what my cast, crew and I accomplished with literally no funding and I want to take this as far as I can and see my full vision come to life. In order to do that we need funding. This is where contributors like yourself come in. By donating we will be able to take this short film and turn it into a full feature.

What We Need & What You Get

I'm looking for $65,000. With this money, we would be able to pay for the actors, get quality special effects, hire a real stunt coordinator, be able to get a better production value, get better filming equipment, hire staff and secure/expand upon our filming location. As thanks for contributing and being involved in this project, you will get email updates on the project, behind the scenes photos, and video. Also, for contributing $5 or more you will get a digital copy of Jenocide, the short film/pilot that started all of this.  If we don't reach our total goal we will take whatever we do achieve to finish the film accordingly. This may mean scaling things back some but we will see this dream through one way or the other.

The Impact

I feel like post-apocalyptic films have become like zombie movies where they are all relatively the same. I created something different with Jenocide that got people excited with no budget at all. I think with a budget I can create something exciting that is different than what's currently saturating the market. Something that makes people take note as Mad Max did for my parent's generation. Having a budget will allow me to expand on the characters and the story itself. In my daily life, I'm a project engineer and that has taught me how to successfully manage projects and manage multiple moving pieces. I think that background and experience will make this project very successful. My passion for this film and my knowledge of film and managing projects will be key and instrumental to the success of this project.
