Moonshine Animations Needs your help
A camera is at the heart of any kind of video production and when my camera broke down, production of my stop-motions grinded to a halt. I took it to a local camera specialty store to see if I could get it repaired, but any chance of that happening died when the employees told me the repair costs would actually exceed the price of my camera itself.
So I decided to begin saving up money for a new camera. I thought if I saved up the money I made from doing Pizza Delivery (Instead of buying figures every month) I'd be able to make considerable amounts of money.
WRONG. I was losing money as gas prices constantly fluctuated and tips from deliveries were inconsistent, and so with some prodding from a few fans, I decided that I'd start up a crowd funding donations drive, With the hope that my fans and subscribers will help me out.

My name is Moon Kim. I'm a junior at San Diegop State University studying Television, Film, and New Media with an emphasis in Traditional Animation. I got into stop-motion in mid 2011 when I received my 1st figma from my mom. The school year was just about done so with the excess spare time I had, I tried making stop motions. I thought I did a moderate job and posted it on youtube. Unexpectedley, it got featured on an incredibly popular blog called Figure.FM, run by a man named Danny Choo.
Seeing all the positive comments and feedback really helped me get on track with improving my videos and inspired me to keep at it. And support from a growing fanbase really helped push me along.
I love stop-motion because it's fun to watch, unique, and a really good way to put some good use to action figures that would otherwise be collecting dust on my shelves. I'm still a kid at heart and whenever I see a Toys'rus or a "Comics n stuff," I can't help but want to venture inside and take peek at what new toys there are.
When people put comments like "I wasn't going to get this figure, but after seeing this video I NEED TO HAVE IT", I want to take my hobby and make it into a career in advertisement for toy companies, as I feel animated toy commercials would really highlight neat features of the figure as well as bolster sales.
I recently met with the staff of the Good Smile Company and found out they've been watching my videos and really enjoying them. I was showcasing my work at a small corner table at Anime Conji 2013. Suddenly, I noticed someone wearing a Good Smile Staff T-shirt, in two minutes there were several somebodies wearing Good Smile Staff T-shirts. I freaked out. We exchanged contact info and This experience really helped me decide what I want to do with life.
This is the first time I started a crowd-funding donation, and to be honest I'm not sure I'm good enough to be asking for money. But I know if you fund me, your money won't be wasted and I'll make to spend every last penny on production and making sure to create fun and exciting videos.
What I need
![]()
1. Obviously the very 1st item is a Camera, and I'm looking to get an EOS 60D
2. A nice lens, specifically a Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 to be exact, and that’s around $500-600
3. I plan on doing event coverage for the Follow Moonshine portion of the channel, and thought it'd be nice if I had a good steady cam to use. I'm looking to get the Glidecam 2000 Pro. The price of one of those are in the $350-500 range.
4. In order to film for long durations I will need an EOS 60D External Adapter, so I can just film and film and film, and those things usually land around $30
5. Right now, I'm currently editting, rendering and processing my videos on a late-age, beat-up, base model macbook pro.
I've optimized it as much as I could (OSX lion..) but it just isn't up to speed as to what I'd like it to be. Especially now that i'm trying to run Adobe CS6 programs, the computer is really taking a toll and my CPU is CRYING.
I understand for around $600 I could get a comparable system running a windows environment, however at this point in my production career I've grown accustomed working in an OSX context.
So ideally for me, I would like to request funding for a MAXED-OUT Mac Mini, which I feel would be perfect to handle all of my video editting needs.
It's powerful enough to handle high definition video processing streams, and it's compact, making it portable and easily configureable onto my camera rig (AKA Rolling cart with a monitor and cables). The base price of a Mac-Mini is $799.99, but with the maxed out customization options I'm purchasing it for, the price is $1,999.99, but I'd like to ask for $2000.
The additional $800 dollars here will be used to purchase a Monitor, a keyboard, and to hire a specialist to mount everything onto the production rig
