"Juniper" is a project that I am working on, and it is a film that carries a very important message - but I will need your help! As a college student, my financial resources for the production of this film are very limited. It is my hope that equally-passionate people, be you filmmakers, creators, story-pioneers, or good Samaritans, would kindly donate any amount you would feel comfortable. All proceeds go to the production costs (i.e. equipment rentals).
Juniper
My name is Nico Martinez, and I am a Communications Major at Marymount Manhattan College. My thesis film is called "Juniper," and it's about a writer named Emma who creates a fictional world with a compelling female protagonist named Juniper. Emma's writing peers, led by Logan, gradually take over her idea, rewriting and editing the character Juniper until completely replacing her with a male protagonist, Aaron. Stylistically, the film jumps back from the writing room to the fictional world Emma created. We'll see Juniper reacting to the drastic changes in her personality and environment, and experience her evolving from a complex and compelling lead to a "side-chick" for the male protagonist that eventually replaces her.
The film is meant to serve as a commentary on the social stigmas imposed on female protagonists in storytelling and women in the work place. It's an issue that now, more than ever, needs to be discussed. My goal is to deliver that message, and to also use my work here as a platform to better understand the society that we live in.
Your donations will help increase the production value of this film. By helping pitch in for the cost of camera/equipment rentals, location fees, props, and more, you'll help allow for the implementation of better SFX and a more refined film! In the unlikely event that there are surplus funds left, they will be donated to the National Organization for Women.
For those who are donating, there are perks (see below). If you can't donate, no worries, I get it! But please share this fundraiser as every dollar counts. Use the share tools, they're right there!
Thank you so much for your time and consideration. Cheers!
