What's so SUPER about us?
JUST SUPER - The Series is an online sitcom (co-written by NYT Best-Selling Author
Alan Kistler and SETC-nominated playwright Mary Beth Walsh) that embraces and explores the ever-present and ever-popular comic book culture and asks, "
Why can't I be 'super'?"
In a world of
hyper-sexualized and
underutlized superheroines,
Just Super aims to empower women who may not feel like they can be Super in their everyday, average, ordinary lives. Through wine, buddy-comedy scenarios, and mysteriously granted superpowers, Cupcakes & Wine Productions bursts onto the scene with their debut project.
Ok. So what happens?
We hit the sky flying and shoot Season 1 of
Just Super THIS SPRING!
Eight Episodes of Female Super-Powered Awesomeness WITHIN 2015! We promise you!
If you donate, you get a whole bunch of stuff! Check out our perks! They're the perkiest...
But what ACTUALLY happens? Like, in the show?
Emer had it all. Except for fame, money, recognition, and a sense of direction in life.
But now she's got super-powers and a dangerous destiny ahead of her. Still needs a sense of direction though...
Her friends Stacy and Danny, along with a mysterious mentor in a trench coat, are eager to help...if only they could stop arguing.
Why do we want to be SUPER?
Our good friend Joss Whedon recently spoke out about sexism in the comic book movie industry. Just Super wants to be a defining voice in that conversation. We want to inspire anyone who feels powerless in their day to day life. We want to bust stereotypes. We want to encourage any small team of artists to make their dreams a reality. We want to shake up nerd culture. We want to put women front and center in the storytelling and production of these stories. We want to make you laugh.
What we need to be SUPER:
Producing an online sitcom takes quite a bit of money. We’re not asking for quite a bit. We’re asking for $10,000.
$10,000 is LITERALLY .038% of Ashton Kutcher’s salary for this last season of “Two and a Half Men.” That’s not even 1%. Not even 0.1%.... And Just Super is LITERALLY 1000% more interesting than anything Ashton Kutcher has done in the last year.
$10,000 isn’t a ton of money, but it can go a long way. Here’s how we plan to break down your donations:

Most of our budget will go towards the production crew and their equipment, because gosh darn it those people deserve it. This team of PROFESSIONALS will ensure that the lovely ladies of Just Super look great, sound great, and come to your local YouTube channel in the best damn quality possible.
We also need to eat while on set and get to locations. Pizza and a Zipvan. These are necessities for high morale and healthy looking actors. We believe in healthy looking actors.
But if we could shoot for the stars, (and who wouldn’t? Hello Captain Marvel!) we would ask for an additional $5000 dollars. That is LITERALLY .026% of Jon Cryer’s salary for this last season of “Two and a Half Men.” This $5000 would flesh out our budget, give us more freedom in some areas, and create and fund WHOLE NEW DEPARTMENTS. The world can be our SUPER-oyster.
Here’s how we’d break down that bonus money:

ALSO, ALSO, note that "In Partnership With" underneath our GOAL amount. We are fiscally sponsored by Fractured Atlas, which means that your donation is tax-deductible!
Other ways to be a "SUPER friend"
Sometimes a supervillain (read: the IRS) steals all your money, but that shouldn't stop a superhero like YOU!
- Sharing is caring! Share this page! Share our trailer! Share our website! Share it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Tindr (swipe right!)
- Can you (or better yet, your company!) sponsor our project? We would love to partner with corporate sponsors! We will proudly display any logo. The bat-signal is logo. Your company could BE our bat-signal!
- Can you donate any equipment/transportation/food? We love fancy cameras, BOOMS! (we love boom mics), pizza, Zipcar memberships. There are lots of factors that go into the producing of an online sitcom, and those factors can ALSO BE DONATED!
Meet THE TEAM!

KAREN BRAY - Actor ("Stacy")
Some might say sharing a name with a beautiful Colombian model is rather intimidating. Karen says it helps her get more blind dates. You can also see her around town singing hilarious songs with The Dreamstalks. Karen has been performing and writing with OUR BAR since June 2012. www.KarenBray.net
PAUL GUYET - Actor ("Trenchcoat Man")
Paul Guyet is a fantastically talented and modest voice and on screen actor. He does a lot of stuff and, if you're really interested, you can go to his website: www.paulguyet.com.
ADAM CARPENTER - Executive Producer
Adam's artistic adage has always been, "Make good art with good people." In the four years since moving to NYC, he has been incredibly successful staying true to that. Adam writes and performs for "Our Bar" an immersive theatre event created by Project: Theater, stage manages and lighting designs in his spare time, and most recently co-produced "Bang-Galore" by off-Broadway playwright Ken Ferrigni. He is thrilled to be working with Becca and Jesi on making "Just Super" come to a screen near you.
