Who Am I?
I am Glenn's Brother, Denis - as well as being very close as a family, Glenn and I were also musical collaborators. He was half of my band Red Cable Sunday. My own music journey has become very difficult after tragically lost Glenn in the spring of 2020 a week before his 42nd Birthday. 2 years later, it seems fitting to celebrate the life of Glenn through his music. Glenn always dreamed of being a musician. His energy, joy and gift for music should outlive the tragic circumstances of his passing. Glenn was an immensely talented musician who has already released a whole album on streaming platforms such as Itunes/Amazon/ Spotify. He had been to New York to set up a deal with an indie record label in the US years ago. Prior to his tragic passing away, he had collected enough material for another album. Glenn was able to play all instruments, compose arrange and perform music, singing and playing multiple instruments. He had been doing this since he was a teenager, producing his own music, as well as playing in other bands Atum and Nine Dragons with his friends. I know it would have made him immensely proud to see this album released, because he was delighted when I released his debut album on spotify from his music project, Missionary Fades. Realising this project would have been a dream come true for him.
His loss has left a big hole in many people's lives. He brought so much positive energy to people's lives, this would be a way of keeping his memory and his voice alive, despite him no longer being with us. I hope it brings some healing to all those who still feel the pain of his loss, to hear him sounding so alive in his music. We were deeply moved by everyone who donated toward his memorial fund, which we donated to a number of mental health charities including place2be, a charity which helps young people in school facing emotional distress.
Your pledge to this crowdfund will mean we can honour his talent by giving his music the release it deserves, with physical formats of vinyl and cd, as well as music videos for single releases. The physical release will also include photos of him, lyrics of his songs and memories of the songs on album liner notes
Having a physical release of his music on LP and CD is something that Glenn would have been immensely proud of. It has been a profoundly emotional experience for me personally to be involved in this music, reworking some of the songs and contributing backing vocals to my late brother's work. It has been a healing experience to be able to present new music that hasn't been heard before by Glenn.
What We Need & What You Get
LPs and CDs cost a lot of money to press which includes mixing and mastering the tracks - the money raised will go into the costs of production. The tracks already exist and so this is an opportunity to get them high-end release formats that give Glenn music a professional and physical platform.
The unique perks that you will get include a thank you tweet from the twitter account of Glenn's Music @MissionaryFades as well as your name featured in the physical format(s). 'First Listen' previews of the new tracks as they are produced and before they are released. Higher end perks include a personalised thank you card from his family, t-shirt and reproductions of the handwritten lyrics he wrote for some of the songs in the album .
The Impact
Glenn was a hugely talented musician and his loss is continuously felt. For all of us who knew him, it would be great to have this release as a memento of the energy and creativity that he brought to music and to life. This release will allow more people to hear about him and to hear his songs. The aim would be to have an album of his music in time for his birthday next year (2023)
I have previously produced cds, vinyl and music videos which have ended up on BBC Radio 2, 6 Music and RTE Lyric for my own music project Red Cable Sunday. And I've also collaborated with members of Basement Jaxx and the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony Drummers to produce a song I wrote for charity
I totally understand that times are tough, and that some people just can't contribute financially, but that doesn't mean you can't help:
