Making the Record
I will be recording with David Ferguson (click for bio) at the Butcher Shoppe Recording Studio in Nashville, TN. I first walked into the Butcher Shoppe last fall with the intent of recording an EP. At the end of the session, David encouraged me to be patient and make a full-length when I could afford it. He also brought on board some of the most seasoned and talented musicians I've ever played with. See their incredible history by clicking on their names below:
Drums: Kenny Malone
Bass: Dave Roe
Guitar/Mandolin: Mark Howard (Johnny Cash, Charlie Pride, John Prine, Nancy Griffith, Iris Dement and many more.)
I could not be happier to be making my album with this team. Based on the few demos we have already created, their arrangements have served my songs beyond what I could have ever imagined. I have never felt more at home than I do with these guys. Their talent and passion for playing is worth every penny. Which brings me to....
Costs
Making and releasing a record as an independent artist is a costly process. I have spent a lot of time deciding what is absolutely necessary to make this album the way I would like the songs to be heard. This includes:
- Rehearsal space/time/musicians
- Studio Musicians
- Studio time
- Mixing
- Mastering
- Pressing to Vinyl
- CD production
- Promotional Materials (Website/Artwork/Posters/Videos/Photographs, etc...)
- IndieGogo fees
- Travel costs from Brooklyn to Nashville throughout recording process. (Flights only. Food and shelter covered by myself and my wonderfully supportive friends.)
Bonaparte's Retreat
A portion of your contributions will go directly to
Bonaparte's retreat in Nashville, TN. Bonaparte's retreat was founded by Emmylou Harris in 2004. Their mission is to rescue dogs whose time has run out at Metro Nashville Animal Care and Control, and place them into permanent, loving homes.
