A surreal drama in which a character in a story rebels against the ending his author designed for him, journeying to meet his maker and fight for control of his fate.
Why This Film
Originally, we never thought of any grand theme, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any present. A lot of us are around that point in our lives when we’re beginning to stop following the paths that our parents, teachers, and people around us have helped to design for us and are deciding to go in the direction we’re realizing we want to go. That’s what the protagonist does when he fights back against his creator, and it’s the same thing that’s brought all these amazing people together from around the world to make this movie. We've been in constant development for the past 7 months, surpassing a series of pitch presentations, inevitably earning the green light.
Visual Style
The film is split into three different sections based on visual styles of lighting, camera movement, and frame composition in order to illustrate the differences between the real world of the writer, the story world of her character, and the ultimate collision of the two.

Appropriation of Funds
Coffee and food. In that order. A well-fed crew makes good movies. We also have expenses necessary to make the film look good, such as camera and lighting equipment as well as production design. Then there are all those expenses that you'd never think of until you start pre-production for a movie. Oh man, gaffer tape. Without gaffer tape there is no film. Transportation and location costs - we're shooting in an old French mansion in Sarcelles Saint-Brice, just north of Paris.
Fortunately we have some equipment and logistical support from our school, and an excellent production manager who is ensuring that we make this film for practically nothing.
As with any film, there are risks to take and challenges to face. Our goal is to be prepared for all the foreseeable challenges as well as aware that there will be unforeseeable ones. However, we've got a crew that has been working together for seven months who all share the same vision and are working hard to make it happen on screen. We're minimizing risks by shooting almost entirely in one location and only for two days, with two days of location prep (ample time to check and re-check that everything works the way it should). We are all eager and ready to make this film, and are aware that despite the best preparation, we still have to face the Paris public transportation system.
