Hi, I'm Brad from Brad Sucks. My new indie-rock album “Naturally” is nearing completion (thank you backers!!) and I had a silly idea for the song “Learning to Lie” where Ben & I would battle a robot in the extremely cool sport of pickleball in a lo-fi sci-fi b-movie style music video. A while back, I sketched out some rough storyboards:

I showed it to some folks and my talented and motivated pal Nick Seguin (of Nicholas Seguin Creative) expressed interest in actually making it. Last week we went out to a mosquito-infested tennis court and shot some test footage:

How We’ll Do It

We’ve gotta get it shot before the Canadian snow arrives (sometimes late October) so we’ve gotta hustle. The plan is to shoot it on the nights of October 9th and 10th. Before then we need to finish the robot costume, a small spaceship model, build or source some props and outfits, find a person to do blood & bruise make-up and get extras together for the gathering crowd. Plus probably a bunch of things that’ll crop up.

Budget will be used for: shooting and editing the video, post-production VFX, cast & personnel, make-up artist, props & costumes, feeding the cast and crew and transportation costs. 

Expected Completion Date

Backers will get to see a cut of the video January 2025. Public release date will likely be some time after that in the first quarter of 2025.

What You’ll Get

There are a variety perks offered: all contributors get early access to the video,  you can also get  your name in the credits as well as a signed and numbered limited edition poster, an invitation to be on set during one night of filming (transportation not included) as well as a personalized thank you video. 

In Conclusion

The goal is the bare minimum I think we can do it for so anything beyond that will be used to improve the video. Anything we don’t use will be put into the Brad Sucks “Naturally” Music Video War Chest and used towards other video ideas I have. Thank you so much for helping make this happen!
