We are continuing our collaboration with the Iron Sky film team on their sequel, The Coming Race, which is expected to be one of the main projects occupying Laibach during the next year. The preparations for movie are in progress and the recording of the music has not yet started, but you’ll hear more about this in the coming months. In the meantime, anyone who is not familiar with our work on Iron Sky, grab a copy of the soundtrack on CD or vinyl & the T-shirt and a totally new poster.
BRING THE BEAT BACK!
The last extensive tour that Laibach had in North
America was staged at the time of the 2004 elections, when George W. Bush was
re-elected US president. We only had a few more shows in 2008 – and nothing
since then. All together we performed 22 concerts, of which 18 were in the USA,
1 in Mexico, and 3 in Canada. But that was ten years ago. And now it’s time to
bring the Laibach beat back!

The music market has undergone radical change in the
past decade, becoming very closed, while the independent scene has almost
totally collapsed. Due to the decrease in the sales of albums and songs (by 70%
or even more), artists have been forced to become less selective when
performing live for little money and have in such a manner saturated the market
and reduced the prices of one another. Plus there is a devastating social and political crisis going on in Europe, America and around the world that affecting 99% of the entire population.
For independent groups, a complex, transatlantic
tour lasting several weeks has become an extremely demanding organizational
project, regarding which it is no longer possible to expect financial support
from music labels and other partners. For European groups, it has always been
difficult to put together a tour of both Americas, while lately it has
practically become a ‘mission impossible’. In this respect, North America is
almost more closed than North Korea. It is necessary to obtain and pay for
expensive work permits for the entire group, which can take a few months and
even result in refusal. It is necessary to find an appropriate concert
promoter, set up a ‘production office’ for the coordination of the tour, engage
a high-quality local tour manager, promptly arrange a tour bus, hotels, and
flights, rent a back line, lighting, organize international shipment of some equipment,
coordinate promotion, merchandise production, etc., etc. All of this costs
money and the group typically has to pay for all these expenses in advance
without any real guarantee that the tour will bring in enough money to cover
such. In our case, we do not believe that the expenses will be covered, however
we hope to minimize our losses and that the tour will justify its objective.

“Laibach are one of very few acts truly deserving of the cliché ‘more than just a band’. Formed in 1980, in the industrial town of Trbovlje, Slovenia, Laibach became the central arm of the Neue Slowenische Kunst (New Slovenian Art) collective, a group so radical that it would go on to found its own country, even issuing passports and opening embassies. (…) Laibach have influenced many great acts across multiple genres. According to Trent Reznor, if there had been no Laibach, it would be hard to ever imagine Nine Inch Nails or Rammstein coming into being.”
Kemptation, Sweden
“With ‘Spectre’ and the respective tour, Laibach step out of their niche and prove their quality as pop entertainers – but beware, they will allure you, they will debauch you, they will mislead you and they might stab you in the back! And you will thoroughly enjoy it! (…) Simply the best show in the industrial/electro genre you will get to see this year!”
Reflections of Darkness, Germany
“It seems this most fascinating, assiduous, entertaining collective still have plenty to say about our past – and our present and future.”
The Quietus, UK
“Laibach were like a polished, earth-shaking ideological freight train who with humor as a disarming stimulant was running through the audience, from the hardcore totalitarian, to nuanced songs resting like beautiful spires on a black, dark, and foreboding construction of danceable discomfort.”
Dagsavisen, Norway
“Laibach are…unique. Legendary. Revolutionary. Laibach is an interdisciplinary total work of art. (…) It was definitely an evening of awesomeness! I have to speak in superlatives. An extraordinary show from an extraordinary band.”
Nocturnal Hall Magazine, Germany
“Laibach at their best blur art and confrontation.”
Guardian, UK
“They’re a cracking good band who know how to put on a show.”
Freq, UK
“Trying to encapsulate a Laibach gig in a brief review is impossible, it has to be experienced – however, it was undeniably an incomparable, challenging and exhilarating, witty, theatrical, political, foot-stomping ‘kraut rock’ art event.”
The Latest, UK
“The most ingenious, unnerving, sinister, subversive art-pop band of that time and this are back, and back because we need them. (…) Laibach have never stopped evolving and adapting, yet remain at core what they always were: a wondrously funny solemnity, an intensely serious joke. (…) Magnificent show!“
The Quietus, UK
