Let's Give HOPE, One Hat at a Time

This is probably the smartest thing I've ever done for my birthday. No gifts or cards. Because giving is SO MUCH more rewarding than receiving.

Hello beautiful people, family & friends!

This is Jessica (with that long name). You know... I'm getting old; in fact, I'm turning 22 in a couple of weeks. I've never really celebrated my birthday for the past years cause I don't really see the meaning of celebrating me, getting old - who wants to get old anyway?

BUT, I want to make this year special & meaningful.

Not for me, but for others in need. Why? because I think I already have a content life surrounded by amazing people. Yes, that includes you and so I thank YOU for being part of my life.

GIVE HOPE, ONE HAT AT A TIME

I met an amazing individual, a UW Husky and a TEDxYouth@Seattle  speaker, Arthur Zetes, who started his charitable organization, Sperantsa  when he was just a freshman. His passion inspires me to do this.

What is Sperantsa?

Sperantsa means "hope" in Romanian. That is, in effect, what we do. Our mission is to bring hope:

  • To the poor - by partnering with organizations that are bringing sustainable change to the lives of the poor, allowing the organizations to grow and increase their impact.
  • To the consumer- that they can feel good about purchasing a high-quality product that they know is changing the world, that they can do good in the world without making a huge sacrifice.
  • To ourselves- by knowing that we can change the world if we have a pure heart and never give up.

Ok, but who are we helping, really?

Mothers, women and young girls in impoverished community in Romania. Sperantsa works with DeCe, a charitable organization that actually goes to impoverished community in Romania and gives these women an OPPORTUNITY to learn skills like making crochet hats and scarf which ten will be sold elsewhere.

Yes, this is an opportunity, not aid. Opportunity is what every human needs in life because it gives them hope for the future.

Read more about Sperantsa here.

How can you make my day, your day and their day?

I've set up this page for you to donate any amount you're comfortable with and in return, I'll send you some SUPER COOL freebies (see the list. I'm not kidding, they are really cool!)! All donations will benefit Sperantsa.

PS: I aim to raise $777 because I'm obsessed with the number 7 and my birthday is on September 7.

I want to THANK YOU, for being amazing.

Doesn't matter if you donate or not, I just want to say that you are all amazing. Maybe you see this and share it to your friends who will donate. Or maybe next time you see Sperantsa again, you'll make a direct purchase from their website. Or maybe one day you visit Romania and actually help the communities there! Who knows?

Us, humans, hold so much potential to do good, now or in the future.

And so I want to thank you now, because you are amazing and I'm sure you will always be.
