A long distance couple meet once a month in a rural town between them in an attempt to preserve their love.
Over the course of six trips to meet one another, long-held secrets bubble to the surface and their relationship will never be the same.

In this story we want to explore the complexities of human connection, of falling in and out of love, and how perspective can dramatically alter our reality.
We strive to create characters that are simultaneously loveable, detestable, cryptic, stubborn, surprising, human. We hope our film inspires introspection and that our viewers see the themes of the film reflected in their own life experiences.

The story takes place in the ’90s, Avery works in Portland, while Jamie cares for a sick parent at their childhood home in San Francisco. Once a month, they both drive halfway to meet in a bleak, empty, broken-down small town somewhere along the I-5 in Northern California.
They stay for the weekend at a small motel, eat at the local diner, and leave after two days are up. The film takes place over six trips to see each other, and changes perspective from one partner to the other with each trip. With each change in perspective, we learn about what each character withholds from the other, and how their relationship begins to shift.
Our film draws inspiration from the naturalism of Lost in Translation, the stylistic loneliness of In the Mood for Love, and the precarious human connection in Moonlight.

After running into each other in every film class at Occidental College, we started making music videos together for bands like Interesting Hobbies Club, Lune Rose, Night Talks, and Creeping Charlie. We realized we share a love for evocative visuals and telling personal, intimate stories, and decided to start our own production company, After Moon Productions LLC. We have continued shooting music videos as directors and cinematographers and have made two short films in the past year, Gorgon and Room for Air.

We were drawn to make Let’s Meet Halfway coming out of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The film is about various forms of isolation -- geographic, emotional, romantic -- the impossibility of connection and the inability to plan for the future, things we have all now been dealing with for over a year. We hope we can explore this in the film and come to some understanding of the nature of isolation.

We are passionate film students who really want to see this project come to life. Making a feature takes blood, sweat, tears… and money! That’s where you come in! We need your help to make this vision become a reality! We can’t make this film without your help and generous contributions.
In order to make this movie, we need to raise $6,000, but anything on top of that will help increase production value and to ensure our cast and crew the best set experience possible.
