The Film & Us
Life Cycle 63 is feature-length, family-friendly science fiction film. It is set in an alternate 1980s and explores a world where humanity has taken to the stars using analogue tech. It's a tribute to the dawn of the golden age of sci-fi!
We are Ambition Pictures, a small family run film studio. We have produced several award-winning shorts like "Dude in the Headlights." Our first feature film, "Mount Adams," received a nationwide DVD release through Walmart stores. You can learn more about us (Phillip, Tim, Jordan, & Matthew) at: ambition.pictures/about
We are setting up this campaign to help us reach the finish line on our current, high-concept project. The script for Life Cycle was in development for 2 years, and has been critiqued and given high scores by more than five professional film critics.
The name talent actors signed on to be in our film are: Adrian Paul (Highlander), Robert Catrini (Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey, Jack Reacher II), and Ted Rooney (Gilmore Girls, Star Trek: Voyager).
We have a studio space which contains a giant green screen and our spaceship sets. We have office rooms full of custom-made props & costumes ready to go. (You can check out our instagram [Ambition Pictures Official] to see some of what's going on.)
Due to the state of the film financing world and recent strikes, we have done all of this (so far) by funding the project ourselves. But because of the SAG strike we have had to extend our studio lease by five months, which is a large expense.
We are now about at our financial limits, and this film could use finishing funds: a post-production budget to make it shine, and to help us reach the deadline set by our sales agent in a reasonable way. (AKA not staying up all night every night for a year to get post production done by ourselves.)
What We Need & What You Receive!
Here's the breakdown.
We've had to extend our studio lease by 5 months, which has eaten up our post-production budget. If we could get enough help to even cover one month of the lease, it would be an incredible boost towards finishing the film in a timely manner.
The perks to helping out!
- For lending us a helping hand, you could receive a custom-made prop or costume item (a space shuttle and flag patch, a metal coin, a ray gun prop used on set), Special Thanks credit, a vinyl of the original soundtrack, etc.
For anyone who lends us an insane, you-really-saved-our-tushies level of help, we have some much bigger gifts to offer:
- A VIP invitation to the red carpet premier event and the cast & crew after party. (likely happening in 2025)
- A hand-typed copy of the script, typed up for you by the writer, Just B. Jordan, on her Royal typewriter.
- You could fly out (paid by us) on one of our filming days to either be a supporting character with a line or two, or to just fill a crew position on set, whichever you prefer! (This would happen between October-February)
- You or your company could receive an Associate Producer credit.
If we raise enough to cover the entire extension of our lease, which is a little over $15,000, any extra funds would go towards post production, which would include:
- Music. We have a composer we would love to hire to at least create the film's motifs. But even if we can't afford him, licensing music and purchasing sound packs and software to create original scores ourselves can add up. This cost could be anywhere from $3,000+.
- CGI. The license fee for professional software can add up over the months of post-production. But even if we use Blender (free to use), we will purchase some base models and effects. This cost could be anywhere from $3,000+.
- Editing/Clean Up. We are doing most of this ourselves, but if we had the budget to hire out the simple clean-up tasks, like boom mic removal or rotoscoping, it would really speed up the post production process. This cost could be anywhere from $1,500+.
- And much more. ;)
The Impact
We'll be honest. Self-funding this film so far means that Jordan has put in her life savings that was meant to buy a house. All four of us have put in a large chunk of our monthly paychecks for the past year. And when things started to hit the fan in the film world this year and our outside, professional funding fell through, we chose to continue on with personal loans and credit cards.
Not super great, we know. But we believe in this project and are going to see it through:
Life Cycle 63 is unique in that it's aim is to be fun, colorful, and family-friendly while also dealing with serious themes, and be presented in a way more like the golden era of scifi rather than the current era of blockbusters. Think Star Trek meets Studio Ghibli with just a hint of Alien, and you've got Life Cycle 63.
So if you think that sounds like a film you want to see be made, your help could make it possible! We truly feel our film will be something that you are proud to be a part of.
