Our Mission
In a time of great political despair and nihilism, it’s our goal to highlight the organizers and activists working diligently amidst the chaos to give people hope that a better tomorrow is possible through involvement, education, joy and activism.
In an RV outfitted as a mobile production unit, our documentary team comprised of comedians and activists will travel across the United States to discover and share the stories of everyday Americans working for change.
Our Team
Eric Bryant - actor, comedian, host, and writer that was born and raised in the Bay Area, and is one of the lead hosts of "Life in the Left Lane." He was the first in his family to graduate college with a B.A. in Multimedia Communications and a minor in Acting. Eric has had numerous accomplishments, ranging from hosting an award show that was streamed in over 100 countries at the world famous Castro Theater in San Francisco, to being a weekly co-host on 95.7 The Game sports radio station.
Kristyn Calidonna a.k.a. "KCal" - one of the lead hosts on "Life in the Left Lane." KCal's interest in racial equality and social justice was sparked following her experience in Washington, D.C., on the historic day the National Guard was deployed against peaceful protesters at St. John's Church. Kristyn plans on beginning her political career within the next 2 years and is committed to being one of the future leaders this country needs to mobilize people in hopes of achieving equality, justice, and freedom for all.
Josh McClain - one of the lead producers on "Life in the Left Lane." Born and raised in Houston, TX, he graduated from the University of Texas in Austin in 2013 with a B.A. in Radio-Television-Film. He has transitioned his background in directing, writing and editing into becoming a respected producer. Outside of filmmaking, Josh has spent much of his free time in political activism, valuing the necessity of an active and engaged democracy. He has decided to combine his two passions into "Life in the Left Lane"
Kyla MacDonald - one of the lead producers on "Life in the Left Lane." A Los Angeles local, Kyla is currently completing her Bachelors degree in Deaf Studies at California State University Northridge, which she’ll use to foster a more intersectional approach to leftist politics and organizing. The theory nerd of the team, she looks forward to using her knowledge for outreach as well as organizing reading series for followers of the series to stay informed about upcoming topics.
What We Need & What You Get
We believe in the importance of spreading hope and inspiration through our content, and thus all of our episodes will be released free online through our YouTube page. However, we will be offering exclusive rewards for our lovely donating supporters.
Our project has been entirely self-funded thus far, but we need your support to produce the best series possible, as well fueling up Ophelia our RV.
Risks & Challenges
Due to the rapidly shifting climate of American politics today, our route and series highlights are subject to change; the results of the 2020 Presidential Election we consider to be particularly impactful on the trajectory our project will take. Additionally, our team is willing to accept the risk of being arrested when documenting protests around the country.
Our team is also very aware that we are traveling during the COVID-19 pandemic. Luckily, we will be staying mostly off-grid in our RV. We will also enact strict mask-wearing policies and undergo weekly COVID-19 testing. Our segments and interviews will be filmed outdoors whenever possible to minimize the risk of transmission between our team and our guests.
In the event of a positive COVID-19 test from one of our crew members, we will have to temporarily suspend filming.
