About "LIGEIA" the film

Several years ago when I was visiting the Edgar Allan Poe Historical Site in Philadelphia, I began to think of how, someday, I should bring my favorite of Poe's tales, "Ligeia", to the screen. Last year, while having a drink with my friend and colleague, Emmy-winning FX artist Jeffrey Baxter, we decided that we would do it, in a heavily aesthetic, DIY, purely artistic manner.
I am an independent filmaker who works on both US coasts and in Europe. My team is full of seasoned, recognized professionals and extremely talented up-and-comers. We are all bound by the mutual love of the art form known as film; its history, innovations and capacity for boundless beauty!
Our intent is to preserve Poe's words and their impact while creating a visual feast for the audience. Therefore, the adaptation will be the closest to Poe's original tale than any earlier films which have been based on his work, his descriptive genius being interpreted by a team of amazing visual and dramatic artists, whom I have the privilege to direct.
I ask you to join us on this journey, this adventure into the mind of one of literature's most legendary figures, and revel in his words and vision, which we ourselves so immensely appreciate and will celebrate with our efforts!

LIGEIA is based upon the story by Edgar Allan Poe, and is adapted for the screen, produced and directed by Alexander Emmert.
Creating LIGEIA with us...
We are seeking a minimum of $22,675 through the IndieGoGo platform; this is the figure determined by the producers to be ground floor for the envisioned production, as per our experiences. With this figure realized, we know that we can procure locations, materials, props and craft services, while seeking other value-added donations to the cause.
If it comes to pass that we are unable to reach our goal via this platform, we will make the choice (based upon the final amount raised) of either a) shooting an exceptional trailer or sizzle reel for LIGEIA, and using that to pursue further funding, or b) returning the funds to our contributors. We will make the calculation based upon our experience in feature film, what is possible, and what will best advocate the integrity of the project.

Our vision for the film:
LIGEIA is a film in the gothic horror genre. It is a somewhat unique creation, the sort of film that scores high praise and accolades on the festival circuit, perhaps winning several awards, before a normal distribution business model is applied to it after it has gained attention. Imagine a blend of the oldest classic horror, "Nosferatu" and "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari", with the modern visual flare of "The Cell" and "Snow White and the Huntsman".
LIGEIA should draw appreciation from those who enjoy horror, thrillers, romance, mysteries and "indie", arthouse projects, who can build it through word of mouth for a life beyond the festivals. It is a film that will be talked about by movie buffs, casual filmgoers and all who encounter it.
An exceptionally talented team anchors the production, with years of film and television experience in the US and abroad. LIGEIA is their first foray into crowdsourced, grassroots filmaking, bringing their vision and expertise to meet with the passion and artistry of the excellent up-and-coming cast to create the best, most genuine, most honest art which they shall bring to the screen.
