The Story
It’s been a year since Eve died, and while her body was revived, her spirit is damaged. She feels like she’s lost herself and struggles to present a normal façade. Her life before death seems like another’s memory. Her husband, son, her acclaimed writing career… all vague somehow.
Eve’s family gives her a beautiful journal, hoping it will help her creativity spark. She intended to record her recovery. As soon as she starts to write, however, the alien world at the edge of her dreams begins to pulse through and compels her to write the transmissions down.
Soon, these visions consume her. Her life disintegrates. Is Eve losing her mind or wallowing in Truth, evolving to post-human?

John is an award-winning filmmaker who has won acclaim for his previous films and theatrical productions. He continues his exploration of the numinous with Lightships. This is his second Indiegogo campaign for a film project; his first, Strange Factories, completed funding, was featured in Wired and Filmmaker Magazine and went on to tour the oldest cinemas in the UK. A founder of F00lishPe0ple and one of the earliest pioneers of immersive theatre in the UK, his work has been commissioned by institutions and organisations such as the Institute of Contemporary Arts, British Film Institute, Royal College of Art and presented widely throughout the UK, the US and the Netherlands.

What Your Contribution Supports
Lightships is currently in production. We're actively gathering some stunning and powerful footage, and will be sharing our experiences in updates here and elsewhere. Meanwhile, we wrap principal photography at the end of January, and then move straight into post-production. The more we raise, the more quickly we can bring you the film. Your help in ongoing production and post-production covers the following, very generally:
Total Budget Goal: £15,000
£2,000 Location
Filming on location at several hauntingly beautiful and evocative spaces in England entails paying rent for the time we’re shooting. Fortunately, the places we’ve found are perfect for the story. You’ll love what you see.
£10,000 Post-Production
Even with a title of Lightships, this isn’t a heavy-CGI film. However, post-production work to get color, sound, and editing right are vital to the final film’s impact. The real light show happens within.
£1,500 Production Incidentals
Getting everyone together safely during production time means paying for travel, catering, and incidental fees. Basic but important.
£1,500 Festivals
Once the film is finished, it’s time to show it. We want to get Lightships the exposure it merits on the festival circuit. Costs here are for submission fees and travel, as needed.
