Who I AM
I am Carla and I'm a local Atlanta-based visual artist and writer. For people like me, it is difficult to fund my own art exhibition. Most can work many jobs, others have gracious family members that will help. I have neither at the current moment. For years now I've been working on this new series and I'm seizing this opportunity to exhibit my collages to the public.
What I Need & What You Get
What I need from everyone is enough funds to purchase frames and libations for the exhibtion. Small donations will receive 5x7 in. signed digital glossy prints while large donations will receive single edition 10x15 in. specialty prints. All together, each donator will be able to own a piece of work as a collector and my lifelong appreciation of your warm gesture. Names of all donators will be showcased throughout the exhibition at City of Ink.
The Impact
The impact of this campaign is crucial to the body of work and the concept behind it. In the American South, through the mix of racism and country politics, I find that no matter where you go, Southern people of all colors have the hospitality that is known to the region. We help one another when in need. We listen to one another when one needs to be heard. Please be the one to help me today. It's rare that I ask for help and now is the time to ask.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you cannot donate money to my campaign then please send this information to a family member, coworker and/or friend. If you are in the Atlanta area, then please come out to the exhibition on 3 May 2013. I want you to have a grand time with me as I unveil my latest body of work and recreate an atmosphere that I loved in my youth. This night is for those that live and love the Dirty South. Long Live the Dirty South, y'all. Peace.
