In December of 2014 I was
approached by an agent and recruited to become a delegate in the Miss
Sarasota Teen USA Pageant. This opportunity is incredibly exciting and honorable.
Through participating in the Miss Sarasota Pageant I hope to further promote
myself in qualities of leadership, character, and grace. Winning this title
will open up opportunities for me to represent Sarasota, as well as potential
scholarships to pursue my dreams of attending a New York school for
entrepreneurial business. As a winner of Miss Sarasota I would be awarded a
$1,700 entry fee into the Miss Florida Pageant. The title of Miss Florida would
provide a $50,000 educational scholarship to the college of my choice. Winning Miss Sarasota will also give me a contract with Manikin Model and Talent Agency, an opportunity for me to network and promote myself. I will
represent the City of Sarasota as an educated AICE student (a Cambridge University high school advanced education program), and an ambitious dancer, photographer,
and National Honor Society Member. The money I raise through this project will be used to pay my entry fees and training costs, as well as the
purchase of a gown, cocktail dress, swim suit, shoes, fitness classes and
cosmetic needs. Additional funds beyond my goal will be used for my
post secondary education. Any support you are able to provide is greatly
appreciated.
With sincere thanks,
Lucelia Nelles
Biography-
Lucelia is an AICE (Advanced International Certificate of Education) student at Sarasota High School, and is currently a junior. She is a dedicated dancer, and has been dancing since the age of three, participating in many competitions both regionally and nationally, as well as performances throughout the year, including Disney World. She has also traveled to Texas and NYC to pursue summer dance intensives with programs such as Joffrey Ballet and American Ballet Theater. Lucelia is a developing photographer in school, and also a member of the National Honor Society and Student Government. She currently ranks in the top 10% of her high school class. On top of her busy schedule she works as a hostess at a five star restaurant in downtown Sarasota. She hopes to continue her academic success throughout her senior year of high school, and then move on to New York City to attend college for entrepreneurial business.
Risks
and challenges-
I have never participated
in beauty pageants, as some of the other delegates have, however I am eager to
learn and quick to pick up on direction and do not intend for this to hinder
me. I am experienced on stage from dance performances and competitions and I am
comfortable in front of audiences and judges. The risk of this project is
that I may not win, although either way the experience will be unforgettable.
Those who do not win the title become part of the Miss Sarasota Team and are
presented with many modeling opportunities throughout the next year. These
opportunities could potentially help fund my college education. In addition to my
school work, dance classes and work as a hostess, this project is consuming
valuable time which is the biggest risk.
Pageant Date-
April 12th at the Holiday Inn Sarasota Airport, Sarasota Florida
