Jessica Rose Felix was broken in early and has been around the block a few times with improv, sketch comedy, and stand up. After graduating from UCLA with her BA in Theater in a mere 2.5 years, Jessica’s unique comedic voice earned her a coveted spot as a Comedy Central Summer Associate in 2013 where she was mentored in the writers’ rooms of The Colbert Report, The Daily Show and Comedy Central Digital Studios. Since, she has worked on the Amazon Prime series GOOD GIRLS REVOLT and ghostwrites fiction for a prominent middle grade author.
By age 24 she had earned an MFA in Writing for the Screen and Stage from Northwestern University and trained at Ultimate Improv, Upright Citizens Brigade, The Miles Stroth Workshop, The Annoyance and iO Chicago. Currently at 28 she writes sketch comedy, TV pilots, kid lit, and performs every 2nd Wednesday at The Pack Theater with her sketch comedy team ROYALE.
By funding this project, you are literally changing the definitive Hollywood narrative. You are championing diversity in film. You are giving a voice to a young latina film maker and ushering in a new generation of storytellers. You are supporting a project that passes the Bechdel test.
What We Need & What You Get
Break it down for folks in more detail:
$7,200 : A RED camera kit for 1 week (x 4 weeks, AT MINIMUM)
$17,500: $125.00 SAG/AFTRA ultra low budget day rate per actor per day (averaged for 5 actors per day for 28 days AT MINIMUM)
$4,200: 1 meal per day for cast and crew ($150 per day X 28 days AT MINIMUM)
WE ALSO NEED TO PAY FOR:
Film permits, location fees, transportation, director & AD rate fees, DP rate fees, camera operators, PAs, make up, hair, wardrobe, editors, music licensing - not to mention all the pre-production work: audition space rental, casting, coordinating, accounting, etc.
Should our goal fall short:
I promise to use all funds raised to make as much of the film as possible and to present what we can afford to make as a sizzle to pitch for additional production backing.
