The mission

Here is the deal. Human trafficking mortifies me. It is something I want to believe doesn't happen. But it does. In the past year I have had a few interesting circumstances happen where this issue has been brought to the forefront of my attention.

Most recently I was given a challenge by a director at IJM (international justice mission) to face my fears and use my skills to create meaningful change in India.

I heard the call. Now it is time to go.

I will be heading to India to help IJM attack this issue head on. While I am there I will be doing things like helping these girls along the journey into housing, education, job readiness, working with social enterprises to attack this from an economic standpoint and researching the problem. I imagine a world where these people are freed. Both the women and perpetrators. This mission is one small step toward that world.

It takes a village

I am asking you, my community, to be a part of this mission. To come along with me on this journey. I will need $3,400 to make it happen. The money will be going towards a plane ticket and a place to stay while I am there.

But I don't believe in getting without giving.

And that is where this gets exciting.

The Impact

I will be partnering with IJM and other organizations in India to combat human trafficking. These partners work relentlessly to bring justice and rescue girls who are trapped in modern day slavery. Some specifics tasks include helping these girls along the journey into housing, education, job readiness, and working with social enterprises to attack this from an economic standpoint. The mission is to help these women make the bold move to sustainable independence. 

The Book

Jugaad Nation tells the story of one of the most surprisingly innovative countries in the world, India. It provides a distilled set of principles and application questions designed to take your ideas from concept, to reality.

For the past five years I have been a student practitioner of innovation, flying around the world helping big companies make their dreams a reality. I have researched countless methods and causes of innovation, and even been invited to speak at TEDx on the topic.

In my research, one of the most widely-applicable philosophies for making ideas happen is the concept of Jugaad. Jugaad is a colloquial hindi word that means an innovative fix or simple work around. It uses severe constraints or obstacles as accelerators for smart solutions.

Your contribution to this mission will pay for my to India. While I am there, I will be doing missions work immersing myself in the culture and taking note of lessons learned doing missions work I will be immersed in the culture and taking note the lessons learned.

In the end I will provide you with a handbook filled with learnings, pictures and your anecdotes that will help bring any idea from concept to reality.
