Hi, I’m Ella, a video editor, filmmaker, and now writer/director, with over seven years of experience working on compelling visual stories for companies, and many more of my fellow students' films. I’m currently working on a psychological thriller script that explores the emotional complexities of love, obsession, and control for my final film at NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
The story centers around Violet, a woman trying to escape a toxic relationship, only to find herself entangled with a mysterious and dangerous man named Nicholas. This project is deeply important to me because it examines the fine line between desire and manipulation, while delving into themes of emotional vulnerability and belief in your internal strength. With your contribution, you’ll help bring this intricate, suspense-filled narrative to life, enabling me to produce a unique short film that will captivate audiences and provoke thought.
What We Need & What You Get
To make this film a reality, I’m seeking $4,800 in funding, which will cover costs for pre-production, survival of a talented cast and crew, filming equipment, location fees, post-production editing, and marketing. Your contributions will directly fund:
- $2,000 for equipment rentals, lighting, and camera operations.
- $1,300 for casting, crew salaries, and location permits.
- $1,000 for post-production editing, sound design, and visual effects.
- $200 for marketing, distribution, and film festival submissions.
As a thank you for your support, contributors will receive exclusive perks such as signed posters, t-shirt or tote bag, behind the scenes updates, and early screenings of the film. If we don’t reach our entire goal, every dollar raised will still go toward production, allowing us to scale the project while ensuring its completion.
The Impact
This project is an opportunity to tell a story that blends romance and thriller genres, offering a fresh perspective on relationships of all kinds. It challenges societal ideas about love, power, and safety dynamics. Your contribution not only supports this film, but it also promotes independent filmmaking, enabling stories like this to reach a wider audience. My past work, including contributions to “The New Yorker” and “Videofashion”, has always centered on crafting meaningful narratives, and this film will be no different.
Risks & Challenges
Independent films come with their own set of challenges, from budgeting constraints to production logistics. However, with my extensive experience in video production and editing, I’m fully prepared to navigate these obstacles. I’ve successfully completed multiple projects on time and on budget, and I have a reliable network of professionals ready to assist in bringing this film to fruition. If any setbacks occur, I’ll be transparent and update contributors regularly on progress.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you’re unable to contribute financially, that’s okay! You can still help by sharing this campaign with friends, family, and anyone else who might be interested. Spreading the word is just as valuable and will go a long way in helping us reach our goal. Don’t forget to use Indiegogo’s share tools to make some noise about our project!
Anyone who donates or helps with the fundraising of this film will be credited in the film. Its a team project, and I truly appreciate all your support.
Best,
Ella Bogan :)
