The Final Frontier!
For the last three years Katie and I have prepared for this.
It seems crazy how fast the time has flown by. Since we were 15 and 16, we have played over 700 shows, recorded two original albums, engineered, produced, and/or played on over 20 other artists albums, arranged original music for a 72 piece orchestra, 30 piece string ensemble, and a high school orchestra, wrote music for and scored two indie films and a web series, opened shows for some of the most incredible artists in the world, and volunteered over a hundred hours of music for charities.
With the help of our incredible FAMbase we were able to crowd fund our second album, Bittersweet. That album led to a feature on the home page of Reverbnation, CBS radio, commercial placement, a production deal with Marshall Crenshaw and Stewart Lerman, Meeting the best legal team in the business at Hertz-Schram, Management in NY, and becoming Fleming Artists. All because you believed in us, and taught us to believe in ourselves.
The next leg of this journey... we NEED to generate a NATIONAL buzz. We have got to get Michigan music to the masses. We need to create a LARGE base in 8-12 large cities to prove that our music is sellable in multiple markets. That is how we will generate label interest. We have got to hit the road. This is the part that usually stops bands from becoming recognized. It is really expensive to tour.
We are gonna lose money our first big tour in each part of the US. Nobody knows us on the West Coast, a little on the East Coast, hardly in the South. We are just a Michigan band, whose played some great shows in IL. So, people won't intentionally come to a show unless we pay for publicity and hype the daylights out of it... (which we hope to do with your help).
We could hop on shows as an opener (more of a guaranteed crowd) and play for a smaller portion of the overall door. Usually it is a very small amount. Our last two SOLD OUT shows in Chicago earned us $300 as the opener. After gas and lodging (using "rent a room") we would be in the red.
There is a ton more wear and tear on our instruments (and vehicle repairs) on the road. We have purchased hard cases and have extra instruments but we know from the mini tours this year, something is always in the repair shop (it doesn't help that we are naturally accidental).
Lodging, gas, food, tolls, and laundry round out the road expenses. Some venue's feed us and we are thankful for that (and for the snacks we take with us). The Van we just bought gets 12MPG so thankful gas went down this year.
We are really lucky to not have big living expenses back home but we do pay insurance, management fees, booking fees to the tune of $2400 a month. We also pay a salary to our drummer and videographer based on billed shows/hours.
So, we are making it happen but we know March, April, Sept, Oct, Nov. are gonna be in the red. We need your help to stay out there.
We need you to believe in us one more time. We need you to purchase some AWESOME NEW and used stuff on this easy to use site and support our "Making It Happen Tour" fund! :)
It will all be personal, or limited edition, so if all this touring pays off and we get a deal, you will have a "one of a kind" signed item. Maybe someday it will be worth something, maybe it will just be a good human story about how you helped a couple of Michigan girls and their orchestra instruments travel the US sharing feel good music with the masses. :)
PLEASE HELP US MAKE IT HAPPEN!
We really are thankful for each and every one of you and know you guys support us in a lot of ways. Sharing this campaign, our show schedule, and letting your friends know we are coming are huge! Thank you in advance!
hugs,
Sav and Kat
