Welcome Aboard The Richest Treasure Ship You’ve Never Heard Of
From 1565 till 1815, THE single-richest treasure-ship a pirate could dream of taking as a prize was THE MANILA GALLEON.
“…but what is THE MANILA GALLEON?” you may ask. Click on our above video intro and you’ll get the idea. [ also, follow us on Facebook and Instagram @ManilaComic ]

What We're About In These Waters:
Our campaign goals are simple:
- Self-Publish Manila #1 (using a USA-based Printer!), in which our characters are introduced and face their first challenges (a yacht race in Manila Bay and a Dutch attack), digitally and in-print, for our backers.
- Give our Mighty Artist a head-start on drawing Manila #2, in which the plot thickens and THE GALLEON arrives in-port...
- Create an excited Crew of Readers to follow the MANILA storyline to its conclusion as we self-publish new Issues on a regular basis.
Here's a breakdown of how your precious Booty gets paid-out:

A Worthy Maiden Voyage...
As you might have deduced, MANILA does not take place in the Caribbean, nor in Old Europe. Rather, it's a story of East and West colliding in the beautiful and treacherous waters of the Philippine and South China Seas. It's something of a fish-story, larger-than-life, as we fans of pirate tales prefer, BUT it's also based on the very real historical events of the mid-17th century, in which the whole world scrambled and fought for a piece of the East Indies, and all the riches pouring out of that region.
MANILA is a tale in which our intrepid heroes are primarily FROM East Asia, and in which their main antagonists are from Spain (the colonial overlords of Manila and its environs) and The Dutch East India Company (a rising maritime power, having ruthlessly established a nutmeg monopoly and hungering for more).
The Crew executing the Galleon heist includes:
- Yang - Taiwanese shipwright, Architect of THE PLAN

- Gan - Yang's son, Taiwanese-Malay boat Skipper

- Imugi - Korean crack-shot, Master Gunner

- Makisig ("Phil") - tribal Filipino highlander, Top-Man

- Hu - Chinese accountant serving the Ming consul, Purser

- Chesa - Javanese-German adventuress, Thief

- Tala - Filipina Manila-dwelling tavern-owner, Quartermaster

- Bunji - Japanese Ronin

- Jesus - Mexican-Spanish Forger

- Houghtalen - Dutch-American Bosun

As fun as the classic West Indies setting can be for a pirate heist, we thought you might enjoy a change of scenery, a fresh take on high-seas Adventure, as well as more than one cultural reaction to European incursions in Asia.
