Logline
After fifteen years, Audrey is forced to share the truth regarding the circumstances surrounding her teenage son's adoption, putting all that she's established at risk.
Director/Writer Statement
The idea for Market Value is derived from a news segment I was watching one evening about a same sex couple who were having difficulties adopting a child due to their sexual orientation. I don’t know if it was conveyed as succinctly, but it was safe to assume considering that the couple met all other adoption requirements. This wasn't my first time hearing a story like this. However, this particular segment caused me to consider how extremely arduous the adoption process must be for this couple. Beyond the normal requirements for legal adoption, they were clearly being challenged in their efforts to provide love and refuge to a child who had been neglected, which made absolutely no sense to me. Being a father of two, my first thought was, “what about the child?” Who’s considering what’s best for the child? So, I decided to write a story, not completely like the situation from the news segment, but one that would cause people to ask: what is most important when it comes to seeing that a child is well taken care of? And what price are you willing to pay to ensure their well-being?
Whether it be traditional or non-traditional, this story highlights the importance of a strong family. And despite the films battle between ethics and legalities, it's not a political film, but allows viewers of all social and political persuasions to weigh in with their own perspectives.
By contributing to this project, you're not only playing a huge role in getting this film completed entirely, but you are giving independent filmmakers an opportunity to produce work outside the conventional Hollywood studio model. That is extremely important for filmmakers who desire to tell stories that are human, and socially relevant without the fear of plummeting at the box office. Although we would love to be a huge success at the box office as well ;-)!

Risks & Challenges
The film is already in the can, so there's very low risk - BOOYAH!! All we need is to put the finishing touches on the film, so we can begin submitting to festivals.
