Our Story - Martial Arts for Everyone. An Inclusive School taught by a life-long martial artist and former special education teacher.
One World Karate has made tremendous strides towards out goal of opening a Martial Arts School for students with Special needs. We are in our last month of the fund drive and all we really need is a little more help!
To learn about our program and our history, please visit our website @

The Big Story right now? We have managed through our own savings (of course), business partnerships and local fundraising to raise an amazing amount of money.
We need a mere $4000 dollars to open our doors by April 15th!$4000 in a few weeks?!?!? We can do it!
The Impact -
One World Karate will offer classes for every citizen of Austin, Texas, regardless of
physical, emotional, social, or educational needs.
The school has
several programs tailored to children and adults who often may find
themselves stuck on the outside of mainstream activities. The focus is
on children on the Autistic Spectrum, but the classes are open and
adaptable to all who come seeking instruction. The school is also
dedicated to integrating the classes to the utmost practical extent.
We will provide Martial Arts for Everyone! No student will ever be turned away from our school, period.
Martial Arts provide several benefits to all practitioners, regardless
of needs or abilities, but a martial art program taught by a teacher who
understands special needs inherent in Autism and Asperger can have a
profound impact upon the student. From a physiological standpoint,
martial arts develop both muscle memory and fitness, plus there are
studies that show it helps to develop neurological
pathways within the brain itself.
Many children on the spectrum
have physical issues concerning fine and gross motor control. These
issues are most commonly addresses through repetitive motion exercises
with PT and OT. Martial Arts do the exact same thing, but within a more
engaging and fun environment. Martial arts help develop coordination
and strength between the left / right sides of the body, as well as top /
bottom, up / down movements, and fine motor control of the hands.
The mental and emotional benefits of being able to progress through a
tangible reward systems of belts also helps to foster positive attitudes
and build self confidence and self worth.
What We Need & What You Get
One World Karate is dependent upon you to make it happen.
We are looking for start up capital to find and pay for a location,
proper equipment, and the ability to create a professional environment.
We are asking that you think about what this program can do for the
children and adults of our community who are lacking the resources to
engage in a physical, social activity.
UPDATE!
We are looking for the final funds to go directly to equipment, advertising and minor build out of the space (we need a floor to ceiling mirror along one wall).
We have several great incentives as our way of saying "Thank you" to our donors built right into the fundraising plan. Check out our "Perks"!
Other Ways You Can Help
You can help by Donating and by Unleashing the DIWO! (Do It With Others) by asking folks to get the word out and make some noise about this campaign. PLEASE use the share tools available on this site!
We also are looking for volunteers to help set up local fundraisers and demonstrations. Please contact us if you think you can help.
If we all get together, we can create a Martial Art School that
creates a positive environment for all citizens of our community.
