Short Summary
We are a group of Film Production students at The University of Portsmouth looking to raise £250 to fund our short film 'Mastermind'. Our film is a comedy, poking fun at the stereotypical conventions of the action genre, whilst at heart is about the unity between friends. As a collective, we want to push the limits with our filmmaking, making sure we don't fall into the trap of the typical student film cliche, which is why we need your help in making this short film. We asking for funding for our short film to cover all aspects of production, such as actors, props, locations, travel expenses, costumes etc. However, with the money you donate we may also be able to enter our short film into Film Festivals all over.
What We Need & What You Get
As mentioned above, we are hoping to hit the £250 goal to fund costumes, props, travel, set design, entry to film festivals and more. The money donated by you will help us to improve the quality of production of our short film.
As a thank you for your contribution to our film, depending on the amount of money donated we are offering different perks. No matter how small, each donation is appreciated! Each perk offers something different from a personal thank you, your name in the credits, behind the scenes footage of the film or even props from the set of our short film.
The Story
Our story starts with our main character ‘Vinnie’ driving his old beaten up car, oblivious to his surroundings as he ramps up the radio even louder. His overconfidence results in an awful attempt at parallel parking riding the curb in doing so. Carrying a load of gear he enters the house tripping over the doorstep on his way in. His mates cramped onto a sofa are confused to why they have been called for a meeting. Dedicated to changing his and his friend’s lives, he pitches what he believes to be a flawless idea that will change their lives forever, his confidence and professionalism are reflected in a pitch to rob the local bank. The pitch covers every detail in what appears to be a well-executed idea. Hesitant and bewildered his friends laugh and discuss the obscurity of his plan. All with their own motives, they are soon convinced and agree to take the biggest job of their lives. On an adrenaline high the gang gear up and prepare to undertake this job, united as one strong team, they head out. All in their positions, poised and ready. Last-minute preparations are spoken over the radio in code. Tensions are high as Vinnie walks from his vehicle to the front door of the bank, nervously he approaches the door and goes to pull it open. With resistance, he tries multiple times to open it. For a passers-by to inform him its closed. He has a last outburst of frustration due to his poor mistake.
