The Big Picture
MedKaz is like insurance. There when you need it. You simply give your MedKaz — which contains ALL your records from ALL your current and past providers — to your doctor. Reduces risk. Saves you money. Ensures you receive quality care at home, away, in an emergency.
Does what NONE of your doctors' portals can do. Assembles ALL your records from ALL your care providers in one place and contains DETAILED notes not merely summaries!
Anyone can use it even if you have limited computer skills or are unable to afford a smartphone.
Everyone benefits today, tomorrow. Doctors can coordinate/deliver better care. Patients receive better care; save money. Payers — employers, insurers and government — save money. Our economy is stronger. Paves the way for major changes in the way care is organized, delivered, and paid for.
When You Need It
Travel You get sick away from home.
- You see a doctor but he or she knows nothing about your medical issues or history and can't access your records. If you're healthy, this may not be a problem.
- If you have chronic illnesses, it is a big problem.
- In either case, MedKaz solves it.
Emergency Whether at home or away, you're rushed to an Emergency Department.
- They, too, know nothing about you or your medical history. They may draw blood to learn something about the state of your health, and they treat you as best they can.
- If you're unconscious, their problems treating you are compounded.
- In either case, MedKaz solves the problem.
Routine Care Your current doctors each have only their own records to guide them.
- Unless they are all in the same network, they can't access all your records from all your other current and past providers.
- Even if they have treated you for years, they often need to access your previous providers' records to gain insight into your current issues, but they may not be available. This frequently results in extra visits, your doctor ordering unnecessary tests and procedures, and may result in costly mistakes.
- MedKaz solves the problem.
How Your Doctors Use It

What People Say
MB, Vermont, patient "I have all my records for the last 35 years on my MedKaz. My doctors and I love it. I recently avoided two office visits and related procedures because the information my doctors needed was on my MedKaz. This saved Medicare almost $900. Not a bad return on a $99 investment." (NB, it's only $59 during this campaign!)
DL, New York, patient "I developed severe chest pains and was rushed by ambulance to a hospital Emergency Department. They saw I previously had open heart surgery and asked me what vessels were involved. I didn't know so they assigned a resident to get my records from the hospital where my surgery had been performed. They exchanged a lot of faxes including a HIPAA release for me to sign, and finally faxed my records to the resident. This process took an agonizing 45 minutes. I was afraid I'd die before they would treat me. If I had had a MedKaz, both the delay and stress I felt would have been avoided!"
JB, Ohio, patient For 20 years I suffered from an illness none of my doctors could identify. They put me through hell; even psychiatric treatment. Finally, one doctor got my records from all of them and diagnosed my problem. I had — and still have – Lupus. If any of my other doctors had access to all my records, they too could have diagnosed my problem but assembling all of them was too hard. If I had had a MedKaz, at least one of them could have diagnosed my problem years earlier and saved me the pain, suffering, emotional distress and costs I incurred!
AB, New England, Chief Medical Information Officer, major teaching hospital “[MedKaz] gives the patient real power in accumulating their record from any location they receive care. It is a simple, inexpensive, and straightforward solution to a complex problem.”
RM, Ohio, patient parent “I love the idea of the MedKaz! Not only do I plan on using one for my son, but I am in the process of loading information for my father…. I see it becoming a very important tool to use as we progress into a world where we need to be our own advocate when it comes to our healthcare.”
PA, Orthopedic Surgery, New Hampshire, teaching hospital “Just learned about MedKaz. What a great product. It would be extremely helpful if each of our patients had one.”

Our Campaign Goals
For ten years government mandates regarding medical records have created major barriers to innovations like MedKaz. But doctors, hospitals, patients, legislators — and now frustrated employers — are no longer willing to tolerate continuing delays. They demand better care and lower costs now, and are open to new solutions.
We want to seize this moment, and ask your help. We have three goals:
- First, to inform the world MedKaz exists and provides today what people desperately want: patients want to control their records; care providers want to coordinate their patients' care; payers want to reduce today's high health insurance costs!
- Second, to finance a major marketing initiative introducing MedKaz to consumers/patients, physicians, hospitals, and employers. We'll recruit a number of doctors, hospitals and employers to pilot MedKaz with their patients.
- Third, to continue developing new MedKaz features that meet changing needs.
This program will cost $200,000 and will be paid for by contributions (we are not selling stock). In return for your contribution you will receive a reward of your choice.
- You may subscribe to MedKaz at a 40% discount — for yourself or two, three or four family members.
- If you opt to contribute a lesser amount, you may receive one or two smartphone popup stands.
- If you don't contribute, you can still help by telling your friends about MedKaz. Email them. TXT them. Post on Facebook or other social media, and refer them to this Indiegogo site. You'll be doing them a favor, helping to improve healthcare, and helping us achieve our goals!
If we raise less, we'll scale back but we'll proceed. (In either case, we'll raise additional capital in the near future to promote MedKaz more widely.)
Our Team
Our Founder & CEO, Merle Bushkin, became interested in medical records following Hurricane Katrina. Like others, he saw patient records floating in water and read about people without prescriptions appearing at hospitals asking for red pills and blue pills. He asked why doctors kept paper records when every other industry was computerized.
As a senior citizen, successful investment banker, and graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Business School, he brought an “outsider” perspective to the problem. He assembled an extraordinary team of talented developers and advisors to solve it. Together, they formulated and built the groundbreaking MedKaz solution, and continue to add important features.
Greg Rosensteel helped formulate and design the architectural structure for the MedKaz system and led its development and implementation. He previously founded a computer service company and worked at IBM’s Watson Research Center and Motorola. He graduated from Cornell with a degree in Computer Science. He recently joined another company and consults with us. Matt Casey, a very experienced developer and graduate of MIT, has assumed Greg's role. Byron Holcomb is the genius managing our back-end Server. He attended the University of Nebraska.
Other members of our outstanding technical team have degrees in computer science from leading universities, and have worked with technology leaders such as Google, Microsoft and InterSystems. Our highly skilled record processing team includes clinically trained PAs and nurses. (Several people on this chart have been succeeded by others but the functions remain.)

Risks
We believe our patented MedKaz will succeed. It is superior to anything out there, meets everyone's needs today and will meet them tomorrow.
But healthcare is complex with many powerful entrenched players, including EMR vendors and government agencies. And now corporate giants new to healthcare, like Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway, JPMorgan Chase, Apple and Google, are entering the arena.
So it would be foolish to promise that we'll succeed. But we do promise that we'll scramble to gain adoption and put a MedKaz in everyone's pocket — yours, your family's and your friends'.
